He wants to stay but it was on his terms. Now he is just being obstinate by not leaving even though it is in his best interests to go. This QPR event will be a good test of his resolve. The important thing is though that his off the field actions have meant that the owner no longer wants him and he is fooling himself if he thinks that he will get an offer if he hangs around for long enough. All of this, together with his inevitable departure has been known for some time so fans getting upset now is really strange. The time for that was when he was transfer listed.

As for his behaviour over the last year being brilliant. Get real! It might have been good by his standards but I cannot think of a single Toon player whose behaviour has been worse than his during this time (not even Ranger). So by any standard his behaviour has still been worse than average and therefore poor. Really don't get the hero worship for this guy let alone why some want to hold him up as a role model!

He deserves credit for his turnaround in my eyes. I hated him more than the next man. If he can turn me around, he must have done well.

 

We'll be fine without him. We've got Cabaye, Obertan and possibly Marveaux, all of whom seem to be creative enough to fill whatever gap Joey would leave in that sense. And we're less likely to get picked on or ignored by refs

What position does he need to fill? We have enough CMs and Obertan is a RM. Ben Arfa can slot in there when he gets back if we need. Marveaux and Jonas can play RM as well I'd imagine.

Striker and LB are the most important positions right now. Barton replacement isn't needed.

 

What he is doing now is just trying to get fans back on his side. He had a year left on his contract so he had an option to stay.

 

What's his relationship like with the other Newcastle players, is he liked in the dressing-room or is he in a clique of one there?

 

None of those players are strong leaders like Barton, those players can't replace that.
And that's something NUFC desperately need in there team.

 

Don't forget how he spat out his dummy cause Cabaye was asked to take free kicks

 

I dont want to sound like too much of a d*ck, but for all those people laying into myself and others about this transfer and saying we are clowns for putting 2+2 together seeing as he has been left out of the squad for the Scunthorpe game. Next time, stop being to quick to stick your head in the sand and have a go at the realism of the situation.

We aren't pessimistic, we are realistic. He was always going today and he has.

Bad news for our squad heading into the season. He was a Big Big player for us.

 

We have Gosling who can fill his position on the right, flair from Cabaye, HBA to come back, pace in Marveaux/Obertan, Ferguson back in contention, Vuckic - Need I say more with him, Abeid, a strong team spirit left even with him going. We don't have it as bad as most are making out with losing Joey

 

Nope just telling it as it is. He has no contract offer from his current club and will need one in order to stay. This is a simple case of a club wanting rid of a player. Trying to dress it up otherwise is just silly.

 

I dont think a football club has ever made it more clear they want rid of one of their players. But yet people still criticise him and blame him for leaving. Truly remarkable. I love the fact our fans are passionate about our club, but Jesus Christ. What magical world do they live in?? Seriously.

 

I really hope we give Vuckic a chance tomorrow, he deserves more first team action.
