Let me educate you then. After only a little research it seems Islamic scholars at Al-Azhar University, one of the leading authorities in Islam have issued a fatwa, an Islamic religious edict, that decreed an exception to the strict Ramadan fasting rules could be made for professional athletes. It is also allowable that travelers may eat anytime of day during Ramadan, any journey, i'e down the motorway or from hotel to ground turns them into a traveler so they may eat all day. So, its down to personal prefrence at the end of the day. This is not a new problem and any Muslim player who wants to do it is normally put on a special regime leading up to it to take account of it.
It's up to the person as to whether they follow that though. I suspect that the most traditional types would not. An Islamic scholar issuing a Fatwa like that is similar to a catholic cardinal issuing his own change to the fundamental rules of the catholic church. There's only one way we can really know for sure. Ramadan ends on the 29th of August this year I believe. If Tiote, Ba and all of the other muslim players in different clubs (there's quite a few) suddenly start performing much better over the next couple of weeks, then it's a good indication that Ramadan was at least part of the cause.
Sorry Chappers but that is total balls. There could be a million reason why an individual players form could drop off or improve. If Ramadan was effecting a players performance so much then his manager would not pick him, simple as. So we have two choices over Tiote, if he has been playing poorly because of Ramadan then Pardew is a fool for playing him or he has just had a poor start to the season, it does happen you know.
You know as well as I do that star players aren't dropped from the starting 11 that easily. We're two games into the season. Do you honestly think that Pardew would have dropped Tiote by now and played someone else, like Gosling or Smith? Even when Tiote is playing poorly he's better than those two. Ba has been started twice now and both times he's been brought off around half time after basically doing **** all for most of the game. He hasn't been dropped (yet) but the season is still very early and players will always be given a chance. That's the fairest way to know for sure though. It's not undeniable proof, but if every muslim player suddenly becomes much better immediately after ramadan ends, then it's a bit of a clue, is it not? And by the way, is Gyan muslim?
No, he is from Ghana which is mostly a Christian country, our only Muslim is Elmo and I not putting his poor start down to Ramadan, he just isn't very good. Guess your right, even a fasting, thirsty, weak as a kitten Tiote is better than the other midfielders in your squad now Joey has gone, better hope you don't get any injuries or suspentions eh
You're being mighty harsh on Gosling there Chappaz considering he is only back from such a massive injury. I rate him highly tbh and reckon he will be a great signing for us
Yup. I'm just hoping some of our midfielders step up to the plate. Marveaux looked great against Scunny considering he's never had a competitive game since last year. If he fills the winger position left by Barton (or Jonas does and Marveaux goes on the left) then I'll be happy, because I think Marv can get as many goals and assists as Barton did last season.
Yeah I do think he'll actually become a top player in time. I was just thinking back to the Scunny game because he was ****ing ****e. He was actually quite decent in the game before that, so I don't know why his form dipped suddenly. Hopefully just a one off.
Not sure if you're trying to display a sense of humour in some way or, more likely, displaying your immense ignorance.
