My lads club recently played a footy team from Barrhead it ended in a mass brawl. Is it a nice place to visit?
I played there quite a bit as a boy. The local Renfrewshire pronunciation is "Borr-heed", its most famous landmark was an Armitage Shanks lavvy factory and it's a bit of a dump. If they wore red and yellow stripes, that's the "Bee Wye".
The team that we ended up fighting with wore white but there was another team in Red and Yellow stripes. It all stopped eventually and the police turned up but soon went away again.
The Junior team in Barrhead (Arthurlie) wear white with red trim. I can't imagine they'd ever be playing the BY unless it was a charity game or something, though. Junior football in Scotland is kind of our equivalent of non-league. The BY play in the J&D or the P&D league which is pretty much boy's football.
