Wednesday at home. Orient away the very next game. And now today. The guy has hardly played for us yet it keeps happening. It doesn't happen to Harper or McGregor. What's that based on? Harper has been 2nd choice ever since he came. All I've seen to suggest the opposite is a few posters mooting the idea on here. Certainly no indications on the matter from Bruce.
There are comments on this thread âworryingâ about individual performances pre-season. And obviously Iâm not including anything that Patty writes.
Pre season or not a game of football is still a game of football and basic errors are basic errors. You think he saw that ball coming and thought "this is a pre season friendly, I'll make a spectacular **** up"? Players aren't at their best, it's obviously only for fitness and sharpness, but basic errors like running under the ball are inexcusable any game. If he did it today he'll do it again. He's ****ing **** anyway, not even worth the squad place never mind the wage.
Hmm...let me count...I make that three games. So that constitutes "Howler after Howler" or "it keeps happening" . Aren't you the same guy who kept telling everyone on here how great a f..ing striker Danny Graham was when he kept screwing up "Game after Game" for six f...ing months!!! Seems the time frames for your opinions don't really make much sense. He was MOM for Orient week after week when he finally got a chance to play. Prior to that he made six starts for us, three of which were clean sheets. As for Bruce's opinion, Jakupovic was his first signing and he made his views on him pretty clear when he extended his contract for two years in July. I'd expect him to be McGregors backup and on the bench most games this year
I get your sentiments but jakupovic is no where near a quality keeper, he very bad at judging events that need quick reactions, he's an alright shot stopper but lets be frank he's not good enough to be a premier league back up keeper, bruce signed him and doesn't want to cast him off
My apologies, I assumed fans would know who we are playing. I clearly forgot the advice, never assume anyone knows anything.
I didnt look at the first post, i always start at the end of a thread. And no - if i say i'm boycotting home games then I'm boycotting home games. There's no exceptions. We'd never beaten Liverpool in our history and i missed that.
Remember When Alex Bruce played that horrific backpass against Newcastle? Drop him, he should never play for us again. And that time Shane Long played the whole 90 mins and didn't score? And we lost. Drop him and all. What about all the mistakes our team made last season to let in goals? Oh. We aren't asking for them to be dropped? Ok. Seems unfair. I mean Jakupovic has only played for Lokomotiv Moscow, Grasshopper Zurich and the like, but he isn't good enough for Hull City because he made a gaff two seasons ago and in a ****ty pre season game nobody (not even SB) gives two ****s about. He's a good keeper. He's better back up than some of the dross we've had the last few seasons. Some of you need to learn the difference between making a mistake and not being good enough for the level you're at. He wouldn't have been offered a new deal otherwise. And whoever it was who said he's a SB signing and he won't shift him is talking out their arse, because I don't think we will be seeing Proschwitz or Faye playing for us again.
Graham didn't keep screwing it up, that's what I was telling you at the time. You were assuming a striker that doesn't score has had a bad game and I was telling you that isn't always the case. Jakupovic has probably played less than Graham did for us in total yet he's made 3 more glaring errors and also 3 more than Harper and McGregor combined.
Making mistakes and not being good enough are one and the same when you're talking about a goalkeeper. The reason he has played so few games for us is because he keeps making monumental **** ups... he might have been good in league one... there might even be a decent keeper in there, but he's shown us multiple times now that he's liable to flap and fold under pressure and do something ridiculous... even in a friendly. He'd cost us points over the course of a top flight campaign. The fact yesterday was a friendly makes no difference. He couldn't even judge the bounce of a straight long ball.
It was Figueroa with the **** backpass (and he has been pretty much dropped ever since) Bruce doesn't do mistakes. We've rarely been let dotwj by individual errors recently really, and Long not scoring in a game certainly isn't a mistake or reason to drop him. A goalie who keeps ****ing it up whenever he gets a chance is different though, how can you not see that? Especially when we've got two goalies who don't do it. I mean what else can you judge goalies on?
That was Figueroa. And he hardly played after that game. If you're going to slate someone, make sure it's the right person.
Yeah but he doesn't though does he? He made one, got chastised for it and was condemned to the reserves. When he came out of the shadows, he did well. McGregor made a few mistakes last season, I didn't hear anybody calling for him to be dropped? No, because he's apparently infallible and while he's clearly the better keeper, it doesn't mean Jakupvoic isn't a worthy understudy. Well ok, fair enough, but who it was doesn't really matter, I was just using examples to point out that players make mistakes from time to time. It doesn't represent them as a player. Players are judged on the good games they had, they shouldn't be judged on their mistakes. Joe Hart has made countless mistakes throughout his career, as have Howard, Foster, De Gea and the rest, but they're still doing alright. Jakupovic has made one and was immediately written off as crap, which is totally unfair. I'm not counting yesterday, it was a pre season friendly. They don't count. He kept 3 consecutive clean sheets before he made that mistake, nobody (except for me, apparently) seems to remember that. He then played well against Spurs and Manchester United. Nobody ever mentions that either. The lad's a good keeper, but he's not perfect, he's gonna have a few gaffes. Most keepers do. The fact is he's back up, he was never brought in to be first choice so I'm not sure why people are worried that he will be. If something happened to McGregor then yeah, he might play a few games, but I won't be worried about it.
Completely agree with you Tommy. But you didn't read my past posts on Jakupovic apparently...I made exactly those same points. Those who keep referring to "Howler after Howler" seem to forget that he has performed well for us, and his other top clubs, in far more games than the Wednesday mistakes and yesterdays meaningless Barnsley game. For chrissake are you Jakupovic knockers never going to get ONE game out of your heads. Curtis Davies had a shocker at Southampton, even the best players have off days. To label Jakupovic as a complete incompetent is just ridiculous.
