A 1 year rolling contract doesn't mean he's on a contract that's renewed every year, it means that every day when he wakes up he's got one year left on his contract.

It's the same arrangement we had with Peter Taylor, which assuming it was instigated by AP would mean that compensation for sacking him was already agreed in the contract and would be for less than a year's wages. (With PT both the buyout Palace had to pay and the compo we had to pay if we sacked him were written into the contract)

Oh I thought a rolling 1 year contract meant it started say in June until June then automatically renewed unless either side decided otherwise. Makes more sense your way though.

Oh right, I thought it was a year from a date too like Brucey does. That's like a job for life then, unless you get sacked of course...I'll get me coat.

I believe there's two different types of rolling contract, one exactly as you've detailed, but another that runs for a year from a specific start date for twelve months, that renews annually as long as nothing happens. I was reading a law site where a bloke had been sacked and was on a one year rolling and expected a years money, but he typed in the wording of his contract and a lawyer on the site explained to him that his contract ran for one year from the date he'd mentioned and he wasn't entitled to anything.
