As part of my training i had to partake in an equality day. It was basically common sense stuff such as 'you can't turn someone down for treatment due to their skin colour', etc.
However, during the training i got quiet annoyed. The lecturer started telling the class about how in certain towns/city's their is Dr's surerys that will only deal with ethnic minorites. I asked the simple question of 'Is this not classfied as racism?'. I was astonished by the lecturers response of 'no,no, this is classified as positive racism'. Thankfully, before i kicked off, two of my friends who whilst are british citizens one was born and raised in Portugal and the other Zimbabwe both beat me to the punch as stated 'How the hell can any form of racism be seen as positive?'. I finished the debate off with basically asking that as a white, non-religious male in the Uk i have no rights then, to which the lecturer basically laughed and said yeah.
My point to all this is, 'are we now the minority?' and also the impression i get having various friends from different ethnicities is that the only people that seem to have a problem with putting these 'asian only', 'african only' hospitals, etc are in fact white politicians and these so called minorties are just wanting to be treat as equals.
