"The penalty decision swung the game in their favour and I feel awful about that. I think there might have been a bit of contact, to be fair to Bale.
"It wasn't a challenge as such, he just ran across me and part of his legs touched mine. I don't think he dived. It was just a coming together.
"I haven't seen it again but I have to be honest - my gut feeling was that he didn't dive. I'm pretty sure I didn't put a challenge in but I think there was some contact.
- Shaun Maloney, Wigan Athletic and Scotland.

Some people look like total ****s now, don't they? <laugh>

Haha - brilliant. Much as I've condemned Bale's diving in this thread that was just an accidental coming together with no blame on Bale. Well said, Shaun Maloney.

And as for Liverpool fans coming on here slating our players for diving. Well yeah - a Spurs player has had a few dives. That is news. People stopped noticing Gerrard diving at least a decade ago. I mean if you want to condemn diving when your own players do it that's great. And as for gooners having a pop...Good grief.

He is great to watch when he plays well and could teach Lennon about the need to shoot more often but equally he could learn from Lennon and stop diving. Thought it was embarrassing against Real Madrid, thought it was embarrassing against Liverpool and todays was beyond embarrassing.

If he ain't careful he'll get a reputation akin to that of Suarez and that'll only end up costing us as a team when ref's don't give us penalties or free kicks in good positions because he has a reputation and they give the defenders the benefit of the doubt by assuming he's dived again.

I know he gets kicked stupid at times and has 2 serious injuries in the past but there is no need to dive.

Not slating Bale OP but how is it any different from Suarez at all. I aint slating either player. But they are doing the same fking thing, just a bit off one gets hammered for it.

The kick the back of your own leg is a rehearsed dive, why, cos I've seen a few different players do it now, most recently Rooney and Bale. Its how you make your body go down as if you were tripped as essentially you were by your own fkn leg. Please stop trying to defend it and make excuses, it is clear as day,

RCL have to agree it does get embarrassing, but Suarez does it because he has been doing it for years.
Bale probably does it because he's probably anticipating a kicking- when it doesn't come he looks like a twat.

OMFG <doh>

You should read what the fk you type mate, jeeesus chriiist <laugh>

2 players dive in a game riddled by diving and you are trying to separate them with some lunatic logic.

One is as bad as the other in this context, add a whole bunch of other prem players too. jeesus, this is the sort of school yard mentality you go by? you must be 15yo like hiag and still waiting for your balls to drop

it turns out Bale isn't just a coward, he's a cheat

You must log in or register to see images

the motion of his legs after the alleged contact is in the opposite direction than any contact should have forced them

plain and simple simulation

This coming from the club that harbours the biggest cheat ( not to mention racist!) in the Premiership! <doh> yes, Bale is a real coward. For some inexplicable reason, he has an aversion to psychopathic lunatics trying to cripple him!..

Another diving expert from Liverpool. To be fair, they've probably seen a lot of dives seeing Liverpool everyweek.

It's simultaneously hilarious and deeply sad that people are now accusing Bale of diving in an incident where the other player involved has said that there was contact and it wasn't a dive.
Tells you everything that you need to know about them, really.

I posted on the Beeb article explaining that Maloney admitted there was contact and a bitter Jock said Maloney didn't call him a diver because Scots are proud people that don't go around calling people divers. Clearly he's not too proud <doh>

For those that may have missed the other goal:

"Sorry Charlie, what was that? I couldn't hear you as I was too busy scoring."

Just seen this for the first time....

WTF.

That is genuinely one of the best goals I have ever seen.

Man Utd, Liverpool and Arsenal fans moaning about diving, when it's not even a dive! <laugh>
You couldn't make it up.

An athlete like Bale goes down as if shot after minimal contact by the 5'7", 10 and a half stone Maloney.

He wouldn't be much use in rugby for all his speed.

Huh? You know what a tap tackle is, yeah? That's essentially what's happened to Bale, he was running at speed when one leg was knocked into the other leg and he went down like every rugby player does too. You literally couldn't have chosen a worse example to compare it to than rugby.

Compare Bale's to the contact that Valencia went down over...

That's why it's called a tap tackle because that's all that's needed. You are using his speed and momentum to bring him down. In Rugby, no matter how big they are, if you catch them while the tackled leg is in the air, down they go!..
