Perhaps there is an element of his head being turned, I guess we’ll never know that for sure. I just think there’s a lot more to it than just this.
The whole team hasn’t played well all season pretty much. So in that case, has Eriksen been thinking like this since August? Or could it just be that this seasons’ formations, tactics, injuries, lack of investment etc etc also plays a huge part?

Yeah you could be right Roo.

I think it's inevitable not everyone is going to be sharing Levy's dreams. Some aspire to be pushing themselves asap onto the next level...could be that

Could be fatigue too...that's not good enough though...fatigue never seems to affect winners

That last line is a bit self-fulfilling. The fact that a winner might have overcome fatigue doesn't mean that fatigue isn't a factor.
All our players are well over performing considering the price we paid for them. But there is a reason our squad cost less than half of the Manchester clubs (and less than Everton's and Leicester's as it happens) and that's because other clubs saw weaknesses in the players we bought and so didn't outbid us for them. In Eriksen we've got one of the most creative players in the league who also has the energy to run the furthest. If he had other good qualities too he would already be playing for Real Madrid or Barcelona. It is ridiculous for fans to criticise him.

Determination overcomes fatigue...mindset can help you pull it out...a bit like what Son has been doing. I think it's ridiculous that you think nothing about us can be criticized. I also think it's ridiculous when fans make comments like

'if he was any better, then he wouldn't be here'

One of our biggest problems is us having a fanbase that walks around with their tails between their legs firmly knowing their place in the football pyramid...they feed the team and the team feeds them overall. No wonder Poch is frustrated when he aspires for alot higher standards.

Truth is it's another player who has outgrown our ambitions...plus the 2nd best playmaker you say...yet he's on 70k a week. He's so brilliant yet many still think he doesn't deserve parity with Kane...why's that? Because of his inconsistency. You will have to make your mind up which one it is...not everyone is right. Can't criticize Eriksen's attitude , can't criticize Levy taking his eye off the ball when it comes to the football.

I’m not defending his form but I just think he’s come in for some OTT criticism.

Spud even mentioned that Son stepped up and Eriksen didn’t during Kane’s absence, when in fact, in those four games, Son scored four goals whilst Eriksen scored one and got two assists, so he only contributed to one less goal than Son yet supposedly didn’t step up? Since Kane’s return, neither Son or Eriksen have contributed to anything, yet Eriksen is being berated whilst Son seems to have been let off... why?

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that when pretty much any other player is out of the side/ underperforming, Spurs can get by but when that player is Eriksen, Spurs struggle massively and because of that, Spurs fans then seemingly hate on Eriksen. Ultimately he’s only human, he ain’t gonna be brilliant every single game, the problem for him though is that when he ain’t on form, it’s more impacting to the side than any other player such is our reliance on him. This is why I think Spurs need to offer him parity with Kane, he’s worth as much if not more than Kane to this side and maybe the player himself knows it. If we have to endure a few weeks in a season where he underperforms then so be it but he heavily outweighs any negatives with a bunch of positives.

I’ll even be a negative nancy and call it now, if we do indeed lose Eriksen in the summer (which seems likely), we can kiss goodbye to a top four finish and chance of a trophy next season. He’s one of the top five playmakers in Europe, ain’t no way we’ll get similar or better to him when he goes.

I'm very happy for fans to make comments about what can be improved but it's the attitude that players are not trying that gets me. If fans shout abuse at players or Poch then that can only have a negative effect. Even posting on here: players obviously read these sites. Fans need to consider whether their comments have a positive effect or not. I want Spurs to be the top club in the world. I am only capable of doing a few things to help that (such as buying the most expensive seats I can afford and cheering the team on). I don't want to do even the tiniest thing to prevent that and accusing our players of not trying can't help.

You're right because we won't be replacing him... I still think he's been coasting lately and I can't help but notice that

If he’s been coasting then so has half of the side. Yet he’s coming in for excess criticism for it.

I doubt the players would read forums like this.

Social media without a doubt, Danny Rose even deleted his Twitter years back because so called fans wouldn’t stop abusing him (this was pre-Poch where Rose was ****ing atrocious at LB). Twitter is probably the most popular and most powerful form of social media, along with Instagram, I’d bet money players read comments on there.

But with sites like this, they’d have to google “football forums” etc and then scroll round these sorts of pages, maybe I’m wrong but I doubt they have time nor even think of doing as such, probably don’t even have the brain for it either.

They've got loads of time...reckon they do read them...but won't admit it...would open them up to some form of ridicule no doubt. Can you imagine if we knew that a player reads our stuff <laugh>

For sure, as do all of us. But this is just a blip in what has otherwise been a very decent season from Eriksen, yet all of a sudden he’s getting torn a new one with some even seemingly coming round to the idea of selling/ swapping him just because of a bad month or so.

Love you really Christian. Just wondering, if it's ok, if you could get back to being the world class player we know you are. Pretty please.

I just don’t think players would bother with this sort of stuff. Social media yeah but actual football forums I very much doubt it.

When you think, taking Spurs fans only for the moment, there’s millions world wide yet about what, 35 give or take that post on this forum. The chances of a 25 man first team squad searching Not606 on google is unlikely in my eyes.

Could you imagine if some did though, Winks would definitely be having some hacker find out where I live.

I think people have just accepted that he's going so there's not much choice but to come round to that idea. People are thinking about Spurs beyond him now just like he is probably thinking beyond Spurs now.

I hope he can turn it on for us till the end of the season...I'm not doubting the positives he brings.

Yeah I’m more or less resigned to losing him, though I’d wish him well providing he doesn’t join another Prem side. He’s given us 6 or so years of great service, twice won our POTY and been instrumental in our rise. I can’t blame him for wanting to leave to better his career, especially as the club done **** all this season to try and improve our chances of success. I just think the criticism aimed at him has been OTT, he’s often one of the best on the pitch for us, a few bad weeks and he’s being berated.
