Dele can rack up impressive stats but he's nowhere near the level of creativity of Eriksen.

I think what you mention about his form just shows how reliant we are on him. When he's not on form, Spurs aren't... That to me signals how heavily reliant we are on him and that without him/ when he's not on form, Spurs struggle. That's why I don't think swapping him for Bale as some have suggested would necessarily be a good idea, I think Bale would flourish if played with Eriksen, not instead of.

I agree mate, Eriksen is unique in our squad as to what he offers and we suffer without him firing on all cylinders. Like I said I think we can get more out of Dele if we change formation and style, especially if we add another midfielder to compliment him, but he’s a very different player to Eriksen and it wouldn’t at all be a like-for-like switch. Whether it is more or less effective overall we would have to see after the summer, once any incomings or outgoings happen and any change in style is implemented.

Not sure Eriksen is replaceable IMO, I struggle to see a like for like we could get outside of Coutinho (as part of a swap deal) and even then wages would be tricky.

Bale is unique and bringing him back would be seen as a real statement but I’m really not sure if he’s worth the wages we would have to pay due to his age and injury record. Plus I think that the nature of his injury record means he would struggle to deal with the high intensity Poch demands of his teams, especially if we return to that kind of style next season as I hope we do, instead of continuing down the path we’ve been going down, which has partially been forced on us by circumstance.

I just don't understand how someone soooo talented can disappear like he has recently, can fail to beat first man at crosses and forget just brilliant he is with a dead ball. The last 3 games were his moment to really stand up and push us on and has hasn't nor has he really looked like he is trying to.

Would Spurs be able to pay the wages that Bale would command, as I imagine it will be very high in comparison to others in the team and would it be a destabiliser as you have done very well to keep your wage bill balanced across the squad.
He has been injured frequently at RM but what was his injury history like at Spurs, from what I can recall it was good.

And re. Bale’s injuries with us, IIRC towards the end of his time with us he was taking a lot of impact injuries especially to his ankles due to being targeted when moving at such high speed. He also had a recurring back issue. But nothing when he was with us to the same extent we have seen at Real Madrid. I’d be really wary of having him back all things considered.

Yeah highly unlikely. He’d need to take a serious pay cut (probably around 40-50%) to join us.

Eriksen’s deal ends summer 2020, so we’ll have to sell him this summer if he doesn’t commit to a new deal.

You’ll find a good few Spurs fans dreading the upcoming summer window.

Bale's not going to come back. He'll probably move to China or something if he leaves Real. PSG, maybe?
He's on silly money and will almost certainly want an increase for what is likely to be his final contract.

Eriksen's got another season left on his current deal and he'll probably go in the summer, as will Alderweireld.

I’m one of the only ones that wanted Grealish, big fan of his. Not as a replacement for Eriksen though, I wanted Jack in the summer to come in and play CM as that’s where he placed a lot for Villa last season and was brilliant. Isco's reportedly on £120k a week...although he might want a raise if he's going to actually play football on a regular basis, something which hasn't been an issue for the past six years

There’s many factors causing Eriksen’s form. Fatigue and over use mustn’t be underestimated. He’s only human. He never gets a rest, because there’s no other options/competition for his place.
He’s also not getting the space to work in these days that he’s been used to getting over recent years. He’s often surrounded without a decent forward outlet ball option available, so we see him go backwards or get tackled when the opposition are quick to surround him.
We’re not helping his game tactically either, which is making things look worse. But part of that is not having the personnel to do it. Dembele’s decline even before he was sold was very evident, Dele’s been injured, and our full backs don’t provide enough of a consistent wide attacking threat to help him with creative space in the middle.

As for the free kicks and corners... well... they are just ****. No idea how or why they have become so bad.

Eriksen's recent disappearance really highlights the madness in selling Dembele this past January window. Mousa could find a great pass to unlock defences. With Eriksen seemingly already checked out this season, it leaves us with very little creative options behind the front line to supply defence splitting balls.

Why Dembele couldn't have signed a pre-contract agreement to go this summer is beyond me. Well... I do know. It has something to do with Levy and the transfer fee no doubt.

£200k wouldn't be an issue for us now, he's rumoured to be on about £100k-£120k at Real so we could offer a sizeable rise to him in order to tempt him, so for once the financials wouldn't really be a problem, it's just whether we as a club would be tempting enough for him.

Yeah both you and us are in for a tough summer. Some of us spoke with Brunel Gooner a few weeks back with regards to your accounts, not looking too great what with consecutive seasons outside of the CL and pretty high spending (Auba/ Laca fees, Ozil wages etc). Can't see either club spending windfalls apart from what they make via player sales.

I like Eriksen...what a player but when hes coasting it he gets on my nerves a bit more than most. I cant stand players who have the ability but not the mentality...thats why we are stuck in 3rd because the mentality of our players in general is befitting 3rd

Every player could disect why they are not playing their perfect game but lets be honest...in a game of football...a genius aka playmaker will/can make something happen as Eriksen has in the past out of nothing. He cant be strutting around like his head is in Spain and expect fans to still marvel at his genius back when he was interested. He doesnt look out of form...he looks distracted...thats not good enough...we are not mid table any more so standards are a bit higher or should be.
