Haven't you lot got a 'Mini me' Bale at the club already ? Definitely a look a like anyway, is he any good ? I understand he plays on the left too.

Kenneth McEvoy, Irish U19 international, who plays on the left wing and has recently pushed up into our U21 side.
Scored 10 for the U18s and then started this game, his first at that level, I believe:

Looks like a promising young player. Potential replacement for Bale ? Maybe nobody would notice the difference and Levy could make out like a Bandit and keep the transfer money for himself <whistle>

We won't listen to offers unless Bale decides to leave and even then I would say Levy has a good chance of pursuading him to stay another year. Until then he's priceless to us and if/when he decides to leave any club signing him would have to take into account his potential to make this current exceptional form his regular level of performance as well as his excellent marketability, with his exciting style that football fans across the World are enjoying.

At the moment he seems happy and is enjoying playing for AVB, with teammates he clearly gets on well with and infront of fans he also has a great rapport with. Then again as with every player I'm sure money and trophies play a part in his decision to move club and he looks up to Ronaldo and may want to play alongside him at somepoint in his career.

It's anybody's guess what will happen but I think we can be sure that Levy will not be selling to fund a new stadium.

    In your dreams, perhaps.
It's funny how desperate you've become to see him go. After all, you thought he was vastly overrated about a month ago and you prefer Walnut! <laugh>

Any youth players coming through on your side to replace the likes of Wilshere and Cazorla? Actually, any youth players coming through at all?
You seem to have dropped off the radar a bit on that side of things.

Well of course I want to see him go, he's the only one hauling your asses along this season <ok> And I wouldn't swap Walcott for him, so I stand by that. But for the sake of accuracy I actually said he was one of the most exciting young players in the premier league, rather than saying he was overrated, which you seem to have made up entirely.

We have several good young prospects coming through the ranks, but we don't need to replace Wilshere or Cazorla as they are not going anywhere. However, my question about McEvoy was genuine, is he any good ? And seeing as he's a left sided player, could he eventually be a replacement for Bale ?

Bale doesn't even seem to be a left-winger any more, so it's a bit of a moot question, but McEvoy's quite far down the pecking order, despite impressing at U18 level.
Townsend's looking good at QPR and our best U21 player plays in off the left wing, though he's gone on loan to Peterborough and subsequently done his ligaments. <doh>

There seems to be a bit of a curse with Peterborough loanees. Training methods ? Medical team ? or just bad luck ?

Bad luck, I think. He came on late in a game and got injured in something like the 7th minute of injury time.

That's not true piskie. At the start of the season, it was defoe who was having a blinder and getting the goals. In addition, there were superb consistent performances from Lennon, Dembele, Vertonghen and Sandro.

It's only in about the last 6 weeks or so that Bale has been "Hauling our asses along". - That's been due to lack of firepower for a few reasons (transfer window, injuries and acons), and the fact that Bale has been pretty much a striker due to this. Don't get me wrong, he's been good this season, but nothing like the last few weeks. He's stepped up and solved a massive issue, but now suddenly we're a "1 man team."?! It's very unfair on those who have been great all season, just because Bale is overshadowing them with superb world class goals and taking all the headlines.

That is bad luck. I understand he is back at Spurs now getting medical attention from your team ? It always seems to 'hurt' a bit more when one of your players picks up a bad injury whilst playing for another team. Frimpong doing his ACL at Wolves was frustrating, as he was playing really well there and was probably quite close to the first team at Arsenal when he did it. Also he could have filled a position that we seem to be lacking in at the moment.

Is his (Frimpong) contract up in the summer? I heard that somewhere, but it seems a bit odd, if true.

I think that is the case. A lot of Gooners seem to think he's not good enough. Personally I think he's shown enough promise to become a good DM for us, but his injuries have hampered his progress.

Precisely. If someone had asked me in January who our best player had been this season I would have said Sandro without a shadow of a doubt, after that I would have said Defoe, after that Vertonghen, and after that Bale or Lennon. He has had a remarkable last couple of months, but before that he was not one of our stand out performers of the season. To call us a one man team is totally disingenuous, he is just the one grabbing the headlines at this moment in time.

I have some sympathy with this view. It takes the whole team to work hard to create chances. Last season people were calling us a one man team with RVP, but without the service from Walcott, he would have been pretty anonymous. Who knows, maybe you won't miss Bale that much if he goes? We've scored more without RVP this season, so we're spreading the goals throughout the team.

I still feel that what happens will depend very much on what Bale himself wants. If & when he pushes for a move, I think we may well have to let him go. I believe, however, that he will be with us for at least one more season.

As to value, ignoring the usual idiot Wums like Peskie, if Ronaldo went for £80mil several years ago - well work it out! I don't believe that Levy would be inclined to accept much less.
