Aye mate, thats the point. these "dives" "cheats" don't tend to come from avoiding dangerous tackles, they are generally blatant attempts at cheating and they play on the fact its easy to simulate a trip.
There is one point that always seems to get missed in these debates, and that is that a player can go to ground without it being a foul or a dive, if we take the example of a player jumping to avoid a challenge who then also goes to ground in order avoid an awkward landing, this can be neither foul or dive, and this where it comes down to that old chestnut of referee interpretation, it seems that everyone these days wants a player booked for diving if a penalty/free kick is not given but there are plenty of occcasions where there is no foul and no dive. In Bales case the Liverpool 'dive' was pretty awful, the others I think (and I come at this from a neutral non prem standpoint), I think could have gone either way, personally I think that there was sufficent contact for a foul to be deemed in both the Arsenal and Stevenage games, what I would say was that had ref not given the penalty in each case I dont think that a booking for diving would have followed because enough of a challenge was made to require evasive action.
There was stacks of contact in the Stevenage game. The player who went down easily for a pen was the Stevenage player, that doesn't make news as Stevenage are a two bob club. A horrible two bob club, with nasty fans to boot bTW I soooooo enjoyed knocking those ****s out of the fA cup, Arsenal supporting manager and all.
Bale dived against Liverpool to try and get the dirty Skrtel booked, but who can blame him after Skrtel intentionally kicked him into the stands not long before and got away unpunished.
This thread is about Bale, who far from being made of glass, is a monster of a man. However, two unpunished tackles have led to long periods out of the game for him, both could have ended his career and probably would have done for a lot of pros who are not as young and strong as him. Returning from such an injury in not a walk in the park, it is the result of lots of mostly painful rehab, day after day, week after week. He is subjected to the same type of tackle that could have ended his career most weeks. Let's face it, for the likes of Liverpool and several others it was their only plan to stop him (quite obviously so.) In his place what would you do? Take a bootfull of studs hafway up your calf (or higher) or go down? If it is the latter, you would, in short order, become a "non-pansy" ex-footballer. Bale is not talking about the head holding antics of players who are blown on, he is talking about the lack of protection, even against teams of supposed quality, he is afforded by referees. Let's face it the opposition gain an advantage by cheating, which this effectively is and what's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander. As for tripping a man at full pelt, it is not about the strength of the challenge but where you make it. Your "standing" leg just as it becomes your trailing leg, (ie when you are literally flying) can be gently tapped with a hand and send you over more often than not. Think of a last ditch rugby tackle. I would suggest that the same tackle with a foot would be at least as successful. A player sprinting is highly unstable and he is also in control of the ball. His running action is not the pumping knees sprint of a generally bigger and stronger rugby player and he is much more vulnerable to tripping.
Its a shame the OP doesn't understand English. Yes, Bale admits his actions gets players sent off, his actions being, running with a football...his job! The defender on one yellow isn't forced to lunge at him, and it is common knowledge breakages occur on the planted foot, so if you know a clatter is coming, just taking a kick going to ground is a better option imo than the former! Its a referees decision after that. Even the great Messi, does this, and every time a player like this comes along he'll be a target. The game happens so fast today, to suggest they have presence of mind in a split second every time, to decide to get someone carded is quite laughable. The context here is that a player is admitting part of his game will result in players fouling him...and?
Considering the surname "bale" is in the title, i think we gathered that. However, the word "cheat" is also in the title so this thread has gone from a discussion regarding bale, to cheats overall and i haven't once mentioned Bale as am referring to the general problem we have regarding players faking trips and going down like they have been shot in the back of the head.
The whole thread is about Bale. It's like talking about "RVP's goal" because "goal" is in the title of a thread called "Adebayor's goal;" Totally unrelated. Simulation is a problem, but it is not the one we are discussing here. It is the fact that the OP has not read the full interview and thinks Bale has admitted being a cheat (why would he?). As for your pearl of wisdom about bringing down somebody sprinting, surely you ARE referring to Bale there?
Which is exactly what Gibbs did for the penalty against Arsenal. Personally I think the worst cheating in football is the kicking, fouling and short-pulling of skillful players like Bale. Trying to jump over a dangerous tackle, and then losing balance is not diving. I don't think I've ever seen a clear cut case that Bale has dived although there are a couple where he might have. There are two or three a match where he is slyly fouled and nothing is given though
I think Bale is a great player and probably a decent, honest bloke in most ways. But he does dive. Discussing the whys and wherefores of that is irrelevant in my opinion. And to say that fouls that stop skillful players from playing is a worse problem in football than diving is massively incorrect in opinion. Diving is by far THE biggest problem in football. It literally makes a mockery of the game. Not only is it cheating, not only is it embarrassing for everyone, but it also makes officiating games almost impossible at times. Video evidence used to give retrospective five match bans for those caught red-handed, please. If you think that fouling is a problem in the game then we HAVE to deal with the diving. Cos it's the diving that is putting question marks into officials' heads when people go down.
There was another example in the game against Everton yesterday according to the Talksport commentators, they basically said he had dived and referred to his previous comments. Was it mentioned anywhere?
there was one incident when for some stupid reason Osman decided to protest the fact that Bale had been blatently tripped over by Osman with his standing leg....i think its a case of everyone judging the book by the cover with Bale....however i will also say he has contributed to this latest phenomena also.
It was mentioned in several places Mas, though they seemed to concentrate on the incident with Osman, when Bale was clearly and obviously fouled, rather than the dive that he actually did do. He should be criticised for it when he's in the wrong, but people seem to have taken up this issue with him for times when he's not actually diving, bizarrely. Other consistent divers aren't being targeted for the same treatment, either.
I agree, they need to punish everyone and be consistent, the only way to get rid of it. However when they can't even see obvious goals like that one over the line yesterday, what chance have we got against diving?
Well said PS. My idols are the Hoddles and Bales of this world. The cheats are the cloggers and the foulers who set out to destroy skill and creativity.
He has been booked twice for diving this year and he should have had allot more. very talented player but he has tarnished his rep with all this diving. He does about 4 dives per game in and around the box.
