Midlands newspaper the Express & Star reports that West Brom have warned QPR they will not pay £10m for Matty Phillips and are ready to look elsewhere.

West London Sport revealed on Sunday that Rangers had rejected a bid from Albion for the 24-year-old winger.

The Express & Star later reported that Albion were moving closer to a dealand believed a compromise could be reached over a fee.

But now it is being reported that Rangers have dug their heels in and that Baggies boss Tony Pulis has told them he will end his interestin Phillips if they refuse to budge.

How can he issue a warning over a player we don't want to sell.

I agree with the above on both accounts, but if Matt Phillips is worth £10m based on half a decent season, then my word! It's borderline sickening how the valuation of these players can be so high. But then again, if we benefit from it who am I to complain?

I certainly would not pay £10mil for Matt Phillips, especially when Stoke are getting Xherdan Shaqiri for £12mil.

Unless you know what the wages are, comparing transfer fees alone is misleading. Plus if one player the club is trying to get off their books and the other a club is trying to keep hold of.

It was more of a point of value for money Damage. I'd much rather pay £12million for an exceptionally good and proven talent than £10mil for a player who's had half a good season.

I'm a fan of Phillips but £10m looks ambitious to me. I'd like to keep him but I wonder whether we can afford to and I think that doing so, playing Championship football, might damage his medium term value.

Equally, £7 million is probably a bit light - room for a compromise if we have to sell? £8.5 million anybody?

Good to see we aren't getting shafted in the transfer market like we seem to have been in the past. So far.

One is a fully fledged Swiss international and won the CL with Bayern Munich and other is Matt Phillips who can't dribble a football.

When it comes to what you actually get for your money....christ that's an enormous difference. No wonder Pulis baulked at the asking price.

Then as a package, Phillips is £14.5m and Shaqiri is £23m

Those are hypothetical sums but my point is that looking at transfer fee's alone is misleading

If Matt Phillips gets sold for £10million and only gets a 30k a week contract; his agent is abysmal.

Damage you could pick an argument with yourself in an empty room. You're trying to make a point by debating 2 completely separate points. In my opinion, 10million is probably overpriced for Matt Phillips in today's market. £12million for Shaqiri (in comparison) is better business.

Also, on a separate note, saying WBA can't get Shaqiri; I wouldn't say they are a gulf in class below Stoke?

I don't think it's an anomaly. Nani just went from United to Fenerbache for £4.25mil and had 3 years left on his contract.
