Not even the most partisan Charlton fan could have watched that team & performance last night , and then Seriously claimed that we are a promotion side.

The quality is just is not there, throughout the team.

The keeper made a bad error, the right back was poor, we didn’t win a header all night in Jones’ own words after the game, Taylor went missing again, Anderson isn’t ready, Godden was a passenger, etc etc.

It’s only forum bores on ITTV & slippery Methven who are now keeping up the pretence.

Put another way …can you imagine any of that team last night playing in the Championship next season <laugh><laugh><laugh><laugh>

Imagine on the first day of the season in August 2025, going somewhere like Leeds United away with that line up.

It’s a giant get up - perpetuated by slippery CM, and aided and abetted up until now by a handful of forum fools.
I didn’t expect promotion this season but did next season. Now I'm losing faith in NJ. His recruitment is no better than Scott's. Mitchell and Edwards are OK but our better players (Jones, Ramsey, Coventry, TC the winger, and Leaburn), were here already. His loyalty to Gillesphey and persistence with TC as a striker don't help. It was said on ere that he would stand or fall by the decision to get rid of Alfie, and so it seems.

I did expect promotion this season, particularly when you see Wycombe Wanderers are 3rd in the table, and the likes of Mansfield Town are above us.

If we don’t get promoted this season, I’d love to be a fly on the wall when Charlie Methven has to ask the US investors to stump up another £8,000,000 plus to fund the following season.

Thats the problem with “jam tomorrow”, every season we remain sunk in L1, the jam gets thinner.

Surely the minimum for Charlie to persuade the money men will be a top 6 finish then falling short in the play-offs.
A 7th or 8th place might sway them, if we were still in with a play-off shout until the last fortnight (rather than being 12 points or more adrift).

Even that is going to be a very tall order from where we are now.
Right this minute we have made literally zero progress from 12 months ago.

We have been correct about quite a few things on 606 incl the Alfie May sale, duds like Ahadme etc.

My next prediction is the US investors will fast lose interest unless they get the minimum of a day out at Wembley next May.

Last Season’s mistakes are starting to happen this Season. I see no great difference. We are still poor, but now the poor players like Ahadme, Docherty are on long contracts.

That’s the key phrase - “I see no difference”

There isn’t one as things stand.

Is Nathan Jones really a better manager than Dean Holden ?

Are the (cough) replacements really better than CBT, Dobson & May ?

Not wishing to blow trumpets but this site has consistently called correctly the inadequacies of Charlie, NJ Ahadme etc.

Watch Leaburn leave this window.

I give the owners another 6 months

Be interesting to know, eventually, how they untangle the offshore multi micro ownership out.

@lardiman

Slightly off topic, but I am intrigued at your concept of a “generous supper”. Not only that, one which caused you to doze off following its consumption.

I now have a mental picture of you balancing a tray on your lap …knowing you I’d guess the supper consisted of dry water biscuits and several cocktail sausages <laugh>

Am I correct ?

I may elaborate later...
