The sacking of AVB by Chelsea is starting to look like the stupidest mistake John Ter.. I mean RA has made in recent times.

I think it is just the thing for Spurs to finish above Chelsea, playing much better to boot, and it is just what the chelsea fans who attend the games deserve.

They turned on AVB. He now has spurs playing well, it ain't all Bale FFS that's ridiculous. This one man team nonsense is what it is, there is no such thing.

He is getting out of Bale what others couldn't and he has to be credited with that, Bale is nothing like the stop start player of last year and is providing a threat from all over the final third whereas before he was maybe going to be a threat down the spuds left wing. AVB has improved the team no doubt whatsoever.

I can only think that with what he had at Chelsea in terms of players he would have achieved more this season, possibly challenging for the title, he's a good coach and Chelsea are getting what they deserve if they don't get CL footy and the fans get what they deserve watching Spurs in the CL while they are in the EL, plus they gotta listen to HIAG for a full season<laugh> just need arsenal to catch the chavs.
 
Yeah they did make a mistake.

He is exactly what they need - but he tried to pass on the old guard too early.

Now he could probably get away with it.
 
It appears to have been a mistake but I think the two jobs were very different. Spurs had the basis of a decent side plus an outstanding player in Bale. At Chelsea, he needed to rebuild the side and somehow try and move the older stubborn and outspoken players without upsetting the apple cart, that was never going to happen. Less pressure to succeed at Spurs too.
 
Even the media/press were calling him stupid for taking a job back in the Premier League so soon. I actually like him as a manager, you can see the joy he is getting from these results. Spurs have a great team spirit at the moment.

I actually think Spurs have the basis to be able to build a challenge within a year or two, they just need a top CB, CM and ST <ok>

Kinda agree but Bale was not playing at this level nor was he being used in the same way, AVB gets credit for Bales improved impact on games, sorry but that's how I see it

Doesn't matter how Bale was playing, AVB still inherited him <ok>

Rafa didn't inherit a world class CB and CM but both Carragher and Gerrard developed to that level shortly after his arrival <ok>

<laugh> I knew someone would pick up on it. Mentioning Gerrard's name was tongue-in-cheek as he dragged us to fourth the season before Rafa arrived. However, I did mean it with Carragher. I never rated Jamie until he was moved to CB because, quite simply, he was an awful fullback!

They did both improve under Rafa immensely though <ok>
 
2004, rafa... he inherited deitmar hamman and gerrard..... 2001 to 2004. he inherited Hyppia, and rafa did do well to continue the move of carragher from full back to CB started by houllier.

in short rafa inherited a big disaster zone in some areas like GK and so forth but he got some good players just like rodgers did. Rafa bought alonso.... rodgers didn't get any of his summer buys right. time will tell if rodgers has a rafa like second season. (2006 was amazing in terms of clean sheets, runs and a cup too)

for the record compared to finnan and riise yes carra was awful as a full back but hey... it just took time to move the guy cos nobody rated him on height....
 
AVB was always a good manager, Chelsea didn't give him a chance.

I don't think any manager will be accepted by the Chelsea team unless it's Jose again, or unless Terry/Lamps/Cech/Cole/etc leave first.
 
AVB is a crap manager. He demonstarted a complete lack of managerial ability when it came to inter-personal skills at Chelsea. He is demonstrating that he is a chancer with Spurs as his back 4 play roulette each and every game.

Without Bale he would be wandering in the wilderness again
 
Not sure you can really credit AVB, Spurs finished above them last season under Arry if you remember. Think Bale will be off this summer so i will judge him after that as he will have to make some good summer signings to keep competative.

A little harsh Dave. IMO if AVB actually knew the situation at Chelsea he probably would not have taken the job. But what can you do when half the team have the ear of the owner and are backed by the owner.

Look at what he can do when the players are not total arseholes.

That being said, his tenure is only beginning and you may be proved correct. We'll have to wait to see.

What I can agree on is that when or IF he gets spurs challenging for the title, can he handle that pressure? Next year there will be bags of expectation, which was the case at Chelsea and he didn't thrive under that pressure nor steady the ship onto a safe course until he got through it, please forgive the nautical jokes:)
 
Alas, I have to just <laugh> at the chavs cos they think Jose will come back to that rotten club. He never has expressed a return to Chelsea.

Jose will never go back there, he wins 2 leagues and cups and CL final and gets forced out. Why the fk would he go back there, they are deluded in the real sense of the word, oops, there I said it<laugh>
 
Redknapp had already started to give Bale a free role last season so I think it's more to do with the development of the player and the adjustment to his new role that is paying off. What AVB has brought is organisation, Spurs are now more difficult to beat, close down the opposition more effectively and defend better.

Rogers & AVB are not a million miles apart in terms of football philosophy so we can look forward to a close and nail biting game next Sunday.
 
lol, they'd not have the CL trophy sat in their cabinet if they hadn't made that decision.

AVB looked like a man way, way out of his depth last season, he made some awful calls, lost the dressing room & was rightly canned.

I thought his appointment at Spurs was based on nothing tbh, as he'd done nothing to show he deserved another crack at a top EPL side at the point he was given the job. His side have done well this season, but how many of his signings have driven that success? He's got a player in Bale who's rapidly developing into a World Class talent & it's largely Harry's side that is still out there every week, a side that was in the exact same position last season.
