Well that comes from trying to pick all your best players instead of your strongest team.

Yes we have a crop of very talented players but unfortunately they’re all very much the same: attacking midfielders. You have to choose between them not ram them all into one weird formation.

Meanwhile, we struggle to find full-backs and centre-forwards in particular.

Ollie Watkins was left out for some reason and I saw Dominic Calvert-Lewin at the weekend. OK, he’s a bit of a throwback but he was in the game and did OK. Where’s Ivan Toney? He may be playing in Saudi but he’s only 28.

A brave move by Carsley but discretion is the better part of valour……

 

It was rubbish and the outcome inevitable. They may have an abundance of talent but they lack a shed load of heart and effort. It still takes 10 passes before the ball is allowed to go forward. Just play quicker for god sake. I may give Sunday a miss altogether.

 

Never looked like winning....Greece looked dangerous every time they came forward and Var saved us from a thrashing.....Carsley should return to oblivion where he belongs and join Argyle's previous manager who came from the same set-up.

 

VAR didn't save us from a thrashing the decisions were for blatant offsides. If they scrapped that stupid rule where the lino doesn't flag when he sees it then there wouldn't be a need for VAR at all. It's like when a shot/header hits a post and people come out with the post saved us. No it didn't the player missed.

 

The root of the problem is Bellingham: deemed a Galactico by the press and undroppable. Nobody can start to think they are undroppable. Going by his apparent attitude, he’s got a pretty high opinion of himself too.

If he’s going to play, I think he needs to play as a DM alongside Rice. He can go forward when circumstances permit or require and Rice alway sits, but that’s his starting position.

Grealish was excellent as a proper No 10 last time out and he deserves a run in that position, Foden notwithstanding.

If players don’t want to play for their country in whatever position they’re selected, they can have a nice long holiday when the glamour games in the World Cup or Euros come along.

I for sure wont be watching that tomorrow .. no interest. i agree put Grealish in the side .. folden and bellingham out.. Ollie watkins to start if kane not fit ..

 

I gave in and watched despite my misgivings. Overall it was still crap. Finland tried to build a wall with a few break outs and basically stuck to that for most of the game. It was still boring. I thought Trent Alexander-Arnold was pants for most of the game and kept saying to her indoors, who wasn't the slightest interested, to get him off and put somebody on who looked like they were interested. Of course he just had to score didn't he but I still think he was garbage. Palmer looked no better and not involved. Bellingham was too involved and could have been mistaken for another Ronaldo. Not in goal scoring but in "give me the ball" every 30 seconds. Overall he failed to do much with it. I think even the Ref got fed up with it all in the end as he stopped blowing his whistle when actually he should have more than once.

 

As is I said, the obsession with Bellingham and his apparent obsession with himself, is a real problem.

He’s played in a lot of positions for Real Madrid, including a “false 9” when they were short of strikers. He also played as a deep-lying midfielder and out wide by the way. Real Madrid may be a top European team but are not always playing against similarly strong opposition domestically. That’s a lot different to international competition when you aspire to winning things like England.

Grealish had a fantastic game as a single No 10 when he had a rare chance there but again he was relegated to the wing to accommodate Bellingham last night. I’m no particular fan of Grealish, but if you are picking on form…….

I see mbbabbe as told france and others he will only play in certian games now, looks like the future for these Greedy Fuxxxs .. i dont rate him at all, another Real madrid super star now ..

I like grealish when he is playing well.. but he gets overlooked .. oh well no more of that nations league crap for me . i will watch the games i wnay just like they want to only play in good games.. roll on saturday watch some real football at Cardiff

I get bored with watching a shed load of games on the box. I tend to mind wander after a short time. However, live games in a ground is way different and you just can't replicate that in a TV room. I actually agree with the players there is far too much already even if they are handsomely paid for their services.

 

Wayne Rooney has been banned for one match following his red card at the Blackburn game. This will take effect this Saturday at Cardiff.

This compares with three games for Nuno Espirito Santo, Nottingham Forest manager for what looks on the surface like a similar offence. However, his three matches consist of a one match ban suspended following a previous incident plus two new ones for this latest one.

All in all, could have been worse. I do hope Wayne Rooney isn't going to get into trouble for every bad decision he sees, otherwise he'll be missing more games he attends, given the dire standard of refereeing we see on a regular basis.

 

There is also a £5500 fine to go with that and it is his first offence. I think Coleen threatened to sue if they gave him too many Saturdays off. She has a great record of success when it comes to courts.

 

Galloway out for 6 weeks with an injury picked up playing for Zimbabwe......he'll be missed.

I saw that mentioned on pasoti yesterday....but I didn't mention it in case it looked as if I was being too negative.

Yet another disappiontment.....really showing up our lack of depth in the Squad....Rooney doesn't need that sort of bad luck at the moment....really puts pressure on the home results to off-set the dismal away results.....a long time to the new year before he has a full strength team.....some of the lesser used squad members need to step up their game to compensate for the missing "stars".

PS.....Did we ever get told why Randell wasn't in the squad Saturday......was he being rested like Whittaker was in the end....or is he injured as well.

 

It's not a lack of depth Plym. Only a few weeks ago, Rooney was talking about getting a few players out on loan because they weren't getting any game time.

It's a bad run of injuries though I'll admit.

We have Mumba who can play in place of Cissoko and some might say he's better off playing there with an out-and-out defender at LB. That's more like the balance we have on the right when Edwards plays behind Whittaker.

We have Issaka who was possibly our best player against Leeds, giving their RB a pretty torrid first half and scored a very good goal in his first start for one so young.

We could try changing the formation with two attackers rather than three and being a little more sound defensively as a result.

We could go back to two No 10's (Al Hajj and Whittaker perhaps) behind a single striker. That's the way we played under Schumacher, with Azaz and Whittaker playing just like that.

Cissoko is only 21 after all and if you just read the papers you'd think he was a one man team. In fact in his first couple of games, he was a nightmare, over-playing and wasting good position after good position. To be fair to Rooney, he's sorted him out and got to be much more direct recently, hardly a step-over in sight, and much more dangerous as a result. But he's still learning and the sending off was a very good example of how he still has a lot to learn. If Issaka can play like he did against Leeds, then we won't be substantially worse off.

If you want to know who I'm most worried about being without, it's Lewis Gibson, whose been an absolute rock in every game he's played.
