I wonder what the original idea behind it was? Maybe to spice things up a bit, so that you get early results, then looking for later results to see what your team does in terms of league position, go up the table, down the table.

Is it to see if more fans would go to the Championship games because they can then watch the EPL later on, or keep an eye on the results. Are they hoping more people will go earlier because then they can make the dinner table at 5pm or they have a night out so can get ready in time? I do wonder.
Whatever the answer it will come down to cash…

It's an attempt to piss everyone off to such an extent that the leagues start allowing 3 o'clock kickoffs to be televised.

It's so the TV companies who paid loads of money for the rights to broadcast live games can show more games.

Short answer, money.

Lot more simpler than that. It was to get around the not been able to televise live games rule that kick off at 3.00pm. Its only a matter of time until that is shelved too. Brian Clough was right.

Did you enjoy it at Wimbledon? For a little club the atmosphere can be amazing. Their hard-core behind the goal make a ton of noise. I went in there with my mate for a change and it was mad. Kid stood with his back to the pitch for about 15 minutes banging on the wall of the stand!
I didnt go. I watched City. I think I have been to their new ground once. The structure of the stands make the accoustics good. Much better than a lot of grounds where the noise just drifts away.

He was usually right!
Although I dont know what point you are attributing to him this time.

There's so much live football on TV I have given up on watching it and I just watch MOTD unless they are very important matches at the end of the season.
I'll go to City's London area matches and watch the rest on stream.
If I still lived in Hull I would go to all the home matches and the nearer away matches.

When I lived in Hull and went to City away matches I'd get away from most of the City supporters and get a taste of the local area before matches and wherever we stopped on the way back. If we went by train we might make a night out of it in pubs and clubs.
A family member supports Crystal Palace and he goes to EVERY match and whether he goes by car or by supporters coach he goes to the ground and goes inside and only sees the ground. Even away matches in London he goes by coach from Selhurst Park to the ground. He'd never dream of even going by train or tube! David Livingstone he is not!

I read somewhere it's a direct attempt to mess everything up and get the 3pm ban lifted. Not sure if that's the case though.

A friend of mine has a daughter and she lives in Morden and she's started at University College London studying history.
She's living at home with her mother and commuting.
I understand the financial considerations and I had my fees and grants paid for, but I never dreamt of going to Hull University and living at home. I much preferred going to London.
Living away is much more fun!

Remember when it was just one televised match every Sunday. Something to look forward to, I miss those days, it was special.

I worked with a guy that was a direct descendent of the Dr. and my Dad worked closely with his Dad (in the shipping industry) and his name was David also.
