It comes down once again to that term "football intelligence". Bruno isn't on the same level in terms of dribbling - but how comes Bruno constantly wins niggly free kicks in decent areas, whereas ASM doesn't and ends up on the floor, flapping his arms as the opposition counter? Bruno can draw a foul from one player on him, ASM has three around him and just loses the ball. Almost every time.

Then it's the decision making - he bombs forward and can frequently get past the first player. Instead of then making a good decision - a whipped cross, a shot, a forward pass - he has a brainfart and either tries to take on everyone, or simply turns around and inevitably passes to the wrong player 20 yards further back. Howe has clearly been working on possession retention. But we're in a funny middle period now where ASM is going past someone, then remembers what Eddie told him, so he turns around and sprints 20 yards the other way to try and pass to someone on his team. It tells me that he lacks football intelligence, quite severely in fact. Look at the running yesterday from the likes of Sterling or Grealish, they're miles ahead and both can do the odd dribble.

Bottom line is he's a talented lad but the comparison to HBA is definitely on the money. Selfishness, bad decisions, relying so much on confidence or "love". The difference to Ginola or Robert is that they would know when to ping in a cross, or calm down the play, draw the fouls, etc. Basically, both HBA and ASM play at 100 mph and as a result thought doesn't go into it, it's just making it up on the spot and so much tends to go wrong. He's not thinking "beat a man, then whip it into the box" or "get control and draw the foul". I don't think you can actually coach this, either. If you try and coach it, tends to create confusion.

Robert was a class player in comparison

The first two yes.

We get a boner watching Him play a good game… then mass amnesia sets in and we forget the next 6/7 poor performances. Rinse as reports… same as with HBA and Robert.

ginola played really well as part of the team.. stuck to his pidgin a lot and contributed more to the team. This is why he eventually won player of the year at Spurs.
Can anyone figure out what this means? My Google Translate can't cope with it.

I just don't understand the sell him stuff when we've got players much worse in the 25.

We need a better player actually functioning before I'd sell him... A new signing doesn't mean they're better unto they're doing it in the pitch.

Another thing is like to say is that not so long ago Joelinton was getting it and then they ended up licking his ringpiece.

I don't think max is playing well far from it because, he's playing like a wasteman under Howe, but he's capable unlike most our squad.

Capable of what...?

He's got ability and still young... The likes of Murphy almiron Fraser are closer to the trap door and if we lost max we'd probably still be going down because he won us games pre Howe.

We need depth we need better players than our better players

Ability to do what exactly?

HBA could and should have been a world class legend but due to his attitude he didn’t fulfill it

ASM is not fit to lick his boots. They are planets apart in quality. Problem being is ASM appears to be believing the hype about him and blaming others. Yes he was the dog bollox under Bruce because everything else was dog ****. Soo far under Howe, where we have training and tactics, he is no longer the dog bollox nor a team player but a whiny, lazy git

Have to agree but my view won't change until we've got 2 or 3 better attacking mids in our squad.

He's not going to be good enough like the entire squad, but there plenty of bricks below him right now.

Win games on his day... All I'm saying is we need to move on worse players 1st

I'd rather have Zaha and max than Zaha and Murphy essentially

Max could be very useful from the bench in a better side.

Can we please bully Lascelles instead

Agree that some need to be binned off but I guarantee he won't be here in 2 years time.

At best he is a luxury impact player off the bench.

Some fans though (and I know a few) can't stop sucking his dick because of a few decent performances earlier in the season.

As others have said he spends half the match on the floor waving his arms around looking like an extra from the mummy with all those bandages.

His 'day' is becoming more and more infrequent I'd suggest.

Agree with this. Max would be nowhere near the top of my hit list.

In fact if I went through our current PL squad in replace and get rid order it would probably be:
1. Lascelles - doesn't fit how Howe wants to play the game
2. Longstaff - doesn't add anything when he plays in a central midfield position
3. Murphy - too inconsistent
4. Dummett - poor distribution
5. Shelvey - apparently he is a ****, and a slow one at that
6. Kraftth - doing okay at the moment but suspect he will turn crap again soon
7. Wood - I am finally realising he doesn't fit our style of play and doesn't convert chances he gets well enough
8. Almiron - like his work ethic but he is a headless chicken most of the time
9. Dubravka - makes some stupid mistakes but ok
10. Schar - some of his passing suggest he lacks concentration, and slow for a centre back
11. St Maximin - can do the unexpected but often messes up the expected
12. Wilson - very good finisher but needs a hamstring replacement
13. Joelinton - this season has shown great work rate but still lacks composure, particularly if he sees three white sticks with a net attached
14. Targett - think he is probably our best defender, not bad coming forward and good on free kicks
15. Trippier - looked excellent in his first few games
16. Burn - leader at the back, dominant centre back but needs a quicker partner
17. Guimares - Brunooo!

Tell me 1 game he won pre Howe this season? He isn't close to being our best player. No where ****ing near it. Best dribbler? Without a doubt. Most Exciting? Without a doubt. but then I'd argue he's our worst passer and most frustrating player to watch.

He dreams of winning the Ballon'dor. No ****ing way. I've got more chance with Scarlett Johanson than he has of winning the Ballon'dor
