This is extraordinarily generous of your sister and you, Stick. As Persian War is so dear to your sister surely she shouldn't let go of this? I have to admit in 1971. when as a scruffy student I was on a field trip in Weymouth (don't ask), I read the first chapter in the local library (aka W H Smiths). I'll contact you offline Stick and will be honoured to receive her gift, if she is sure.
At the moment I'm in a similar state and trying to get rid of a lot of dearly loved yet seldom read books.

She offered Busty, she has too many and books are for reading not gathering dust.
Send me a PM with your address on it and I will get her to post it to you. You may have a little wait as she isn't keen on mixing with the public right now.

Me too. Just been having a clear out (not yet finished) and I can't believe how many books (and photos and videos/CDs) we have accumulated. Not sure what to do with this lot; I'm sure there will be lots that we can't throw out

PNkt do you have the conditions of racing for conditional jockeys races? Are they uniform in terms of claim alllowances for riding for home yard? Or do the conditions vary race to race?

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you on this one. I’ve had a look at the conditions of a few races now and from what I can see the allowance when riding for their own stable is standard at 3lbs.

Just to let you all know I received Stick's sister's copy of the Persian War biography. It was extremely generous and kind of her. I have read the book, which is fascinating: a great horse, a terrible owner and a different time.
Thanks again to Stick and his sister.

A bit late in the day but does RoM say which mare Cliveden Stud sent to Cable Bay in 2020? They are showing a filly foal on the Racing Post website I have not logged.

I’ve now had a look at the RoM and cannot find anything against their name! I can only assume that they bought a mare carrying in utero, or had some kind of foal share deal with another breeder.

Interestingly there were quite a few mares under Noreen McManus’ name - perhaps JP sees him as a future NH sire! He’s never been afraid to send his NH mares to flat stallions in the past!
