Thanks for the new thread Ron, not sure how much I'll get on here in the coming weeks and months, but I'll do my best to keep checking in.
Hope everyone is on standby for more expectant parent news - Frankel's first foal should hit the ground any day now!
He's here! The first foal by Frankel was born at Coolmore Stud on Saturday night, though news has only just been released. The bay colt is out of Group winning mare Chrysanthemum, the first mare to be confirmed in foal to Frankel last year, and is described by Coolmore as "a handsome colt with a good head, a white blaze and great presence". No pictures so far, but I'm sure it won't be long before a few more hit the ground.
Nathaniel's first foal arrived sooner! Colt out of Liel (1st foal of Magical Romance so there is a history of being quick of the mark foaling)
Thanks Princess. I just love pictures of foals. Isn't it amazing how quickly they grow. Here's a question for you. Which trainer(s) have in training the most number of Presenting's progeny?
I'll have to go and investigate that one. It'll be tricky to find out as he had such large crops of foals!
It was just a thought as Charlie Longsdon seems to go for a few but maybe they all have some. Unless it's a quick computer query don't bother Princess. It's not important and I'm sure you have more important things on your plate.
I've had a look and there doesn't seem to be an easy way to get the info. If I had more time I'd email one of my contacts at Weatherbys to see if they could run something off, but this is my last week in the office before maternity leave and I'm flat to the boards with actual work stuff!
Now then Princess, something that I have been thinking about recently all to do with our new daddy Frankel and his now emerging offspring... Obviously we wont see the little ones running on a racecourse for a wee while, and im sure the flat racing fans cant wait, but will Frankel's job of covering the future mares of his life get busier or less...? What I mean is is that if they all start to show talent early on in their running careers then surely you would lessen the mares covered by Frankel to make them a but more exclusive wouldn't you... Or would his portfolio of mares lined up increase...??? If Frankel has covered every mare out there then it sort of defeats the object dosnt it, as you would want to keep his line a bit more exclusive, or dosnt it work like that...??? Im not totally up with how the whole covering, stud horse thing goes, (well apart from the bleeding obvious, boy meets girl, shoots n leaves...!!!). But with Frankel's profile being so high you sort of get attracted to any news that comes out about him...
