Exciting prospects for the Goffs November Foal Sale:

Frankel half-dozen bound for Goffs foal sale

BY BLOODSTOCK WORLD STAFF 1:29PM 5 OCT 2014

A HALF-SISTER to last month's Beresford Stakes winner Ol' Man River is one of six foals from the first crop of the mighty Frankel set to come under the hammer at the Goffs November Foal Sale, which begins its four-day run on November 17.

The filly, whose breeder Michael Ryan revealed she would head to the sale in Tuesday's Racing Post, is out of Anglo-Irish 1,000 Guineas winner Finsceal Beo - whose offspring have already grabbed the headlines at Goffs. The unbeaten Ol' Man River sold at last year's Orby Sale for the sale-topping sum of €2,850,000, while his year older Sea The Stars half-sister Too The Stars, who broke her maiden at Epsom last Sunday on the same day Ol' Man River struck in the Beresford Stakes, made €800,000 as a foal in 2011.

Ballylinch Stud will offer a half-brother to Group 3 winner US Law from the family of Red Rocks.

Friarstown Stud will consign two lots by Frankel - a colt out of EP Taylor Stakes winner Lahaleeb and a daughter of Song, who is a sister to Irish 1,000 Guineas winner Yesterday.

A three-parts sister to triple Group 3 winner Ernest Hemingway from the family of Zoffany will be offered by Barronstown Stud and the sextet is completed by a filly offered by Airlie Stud out of the Park Hill Stakes winner Discreet Brief - whose son Secret Brief won Saturday's £500,000 Tattersalls Millions 2YO Trophy.

Goffs chief executive Henry Beeby said: "As we saw when selling the world's first Frankel foal at the Goffs London Sale in June, interest in the first offspring of the world's greatest is virtually unprecedented. Indeed, the only comparison is with the first crop of Sea The Stars who sold so well at Goffs in 2011.

"The six Frankel foals are all potential sales toppers in their own right and we are very grateful to each vendor for entrusting them to Goffs. Their inclusion in a mouth-watering catalogue of world-class foals should ensure a global buying bench descends on Goffs next month."

pN, keep going onto the Weatherby's site but Return of Mares 2014 yet not up there for pre-orders. When would you expect them to take orders, cheers

I would have thought they'd be taking orders now, it's usually released to coincide with the December Sale, so less than 2 months to go.

Will her back condition cause her major problems as a broodmare?
I doubt it Nass. The back problem couldn't have been that bad to run like she did in the Arc and she has several months to recover anyway. Her feet were the main problem.

I was told yesterday that Galileo's fee is now €400,000, so I pity anyone selling at the yearling sales and achieving less than €450,000!

The catalogue for Tattersalls December Foal Sale has been released and can be viewed HERE

The highlights will undoubtedly be the four foals by Frankel:

Lot 1059 colt out of Red Bloom
Lot 1087 filly out of Kirinda
Lot 1103 colt out of Swiss Lake
Lot 1113 colt out of Dorcas Lane

In addition there are foals by leading sires including Dubawi (3), Galileo (1) and Oasis Dream (10)

Interesting bit on Ashbrittle's site about their 2.6million yearling agent sale last week. When the bidding had to be lowered to 5,000g to get it started they couldn't work out what had happened....

Channel 4 have announced that they have commissioned a documentary about Frankel and Sir Henry that wil be broadcast as part of the channel's 2015 Royal Ascot coverage. It will be in a similar vein to their 'How to win the National' programme. Juddmonte have confirmed they will be cooperating and allowing access to Frankel at stud.

Sad to report that ZARKASH, the unraced son of Sea The Stars and Zarkava, was fatally injured during routine work last week.
