In a nice touch it has been revealed that Chachamaidee's first foal, a filly by Galileo, has been named FOR HENRY. She was born at the Cecil family's Cliff Stud in Yorkshire in March this year, and will join Lady Cecil at Warren Place when the time comes.

I imagine For Henry might be given a little extra special TLC perhaps, nice touch all the same, Cecil was very sentimental and I'm sure he would appreciate it.

Stud plans are under way for SEA THE MOON, though he will not be retired until the end of his 4yo career and is categorically not for sale.

From Racing Post:

Sea The Moon stud plans outlined by owner

BY BLOODSTOCK WORLD STAFF 12:37PM 5 SEP 2014

A MAXIMUM stake of 49 per cent in Sea The Moon may be offered when the leading Arc fancy retires to stud, but the colt's owner Gestut Gorsldorf intends to keep the controlling share.

However, the son of Sea The Stars - who wowed crowds when sauntering home in the Deutsches Derby by 11 lengths - looks set to stay in training at four.

Speaking to German Racing Review, Gestut Gorlsdorf's Niko Lafrentz stated categorically that, while the colt is racing he is not for sale, when he does retire to the covering shed shares in the horse may be available for syndication.

"It's hard to find time to watch the Derby again because my phone will not stop ringing. People will not accept that Sea The Moon is a member of our family and is not for sale," said Lafrentz.

"He will have three or four races next season. We would love to bring him to England. It would be a dream to have him run at Royal Ascot.

"He will not leave Europe as a racehorse or as a stallion. We want what is best for our horse and we want him to be happy. The only flying Sea The Moon will do is on the racecourse.

"We will decide on his stallion career at the end of next year, however no more than 49 per cent of him will be available for syndication. We want to have complete control of his future as we have his best interests at heart. He will stand in Europe and he will not be available to shuttle to Australia. He can cover southern hemisphere mares but they will need to come to him."

Sea The Moon's next target en route to the Arc is Sunday's Grosser Preis von Baden, where he is set to face ten rivals including Deutsches Derby runner-up Lucky Lion and last year's Derby winner Lucky Speed.

A homebred for the stud, Sea The Moon is out of the Monsun mare Sanwa, a sister to the late sire's Group 1 winners Schiaparelli, Salve Regina and Samum - who won the Grosser Preis von Baden in 2000. The family is also that of last month's €1.2 million Arqana August sales-topper.

"He is by this season's top young stallion and his damline is the hottest bloodline available at the minute," said Lafrentz.

"He is not my horse, he is our family's horse and it is important to remember this. We want him to remain in Europe so everyone here can enjoy him."

Just goes to show the difference in attitude to stud plans in Germany compared to the rest if the racing world, ie let them mature and show what they've got as an older horse versus retire them as fast as possible to make as much money as possible.

The syndication plan is something new to Germany, previously most stallions were only supported by their owners mares for the first few seasons, but now German breeders are clubbing together to try and keep the top German colts in the country.

Sorry DAYO10, only just see. Your question, must have missed it earlier. Apologies.

Honestly I don't know what is happening at Warren Place these days, partly because I'm out of the loop while on maternity leave but also because the person I knew that was working there left earlier this year. I'd suspect that the better Juddmonte horses probably are being sent to the experienced trainers. Sorry I can't help more!

Thanks Princess - that's fine thank you. Shame if true that the better Abdulla horses are being sent to the likes of Stoute / Gosden / Charlton etc as Henry would probably have always been first choice. I wonder who Juddmonte will send most of the Frankel progeny to in a year or two - interesting ?

Charlton has a fair sprinkling of Abdullah 2yos but the only one you'd think Henry would certainly have got is Time Test (Dubawi-Passage of Time). He's already run and won. But then again Abdullah started at Beckhampton with Charlton's predecessor, so it's probably right Charlton gets his share of animals.

DAYO have looked at HIT 2014 and Cecil has 8 Abdullah 2yos this season. She has 12 3yos.
As you would imagine the whole stable has shrunk as she has only 60 horses.

Of the 2yos owned by Abdullah a couple stand out

Destalink is a filly by Rail Link out of Modesta (who is a Sadler's wells half-sister to Midday's dam).
Codeshare who is a colt by Dansili and full-brother to Passage of Time

There are others with nice breeding.

Cheers Bustino :) - only 60 horses in the whole yard - big drop considering she hired that guy from the U.S. last autumn - I would have presumed that would have been to help with the workload ?? Is there a link or website to get this info - much obliged.

Link to Warren Place website, though I don't know how up to date it is.

The annual Horses in a Training is published every March, but again is only as reliable as the returns made by trainers. A lot of trainers list their horses on their websites, but some are still a bit secretive!

SEA THE MOON is to stand at Lanwades Stud in Newmarket in 2015. His fee will be £15,000

I'm surprised by this as they gave the impression that he would be sent to stud in Germany, for the benefit of German breeders.

That is amazing. Had he won the Arc I wonder what his fee would have been. Is it possible that all the best mares are over here and they want a good start so that the fee will rocket? He could get flooded out with enquiries and be very choosy.or simply get loads in foal asap. It would seem, financially, they must be regretting their decision not to sell.

Lanwades is not an establishment known for covering large books, so I don't think he'll be covering Coolmore-style numbers. He'll be around the 120 mark at most I'd imagine.

The Goffs Orby sale has got underway this morning and has already seen early fireworks with a Galileo colt out of Scribonia (making him a full-brother to some very decent fillies in Cuis Ghaire and Gile Na Greine, amongst others) making €1.5 million, selling to Coolmore.

€1.1 million this morning for a Sea The Stars half-sister to G1 performer and young sure Lord Shanakill. She has been purchased for the owners of Ivawood.
