I suppose the thing to do is to look out for who is going to be the surprise amongst the new sires. Although New Approach was not a surprise not all the news on him was that positive before his progeny hit the track. The two surprises last year have to be Sakhee's Secret and Sixties Icon. Sakhee's Secret had most winners on the turf with I think 21 races won by his progeny. Out of 56 runners 17 of them won, so a score of 30%. Sixties Icon had only 8 winning horses (winning 14 races) but from only 17 runners, so an amazing winners to runners ratio of 47%.
Will they both be flashes in the pan? Sixties Icon's 3yos should appreciate the longer trips they will be able to run over this year.
The progeny of New Approach (especially), Raven's Pass and Henrythenavigator won loads more money than those two of course.

Good morning Princess, do you know whether we are likeyl to see any of Conduit's 2YOs in the UK this season? He stands at the Big Red Farm in Japan but I was wondering whether any European-based mares have been covered by him? According to the Racing Post his first crop of 2YOs should be hitting the race tracks this season, would love to see some of them in action in the UK. Thanks.
Oddy, I'm not currently aware of any of his progeny that are due to race in Europe. It is likely that Darley may have sent him some mares, as they have a farm in Japan, but I have not seen any of his offspring listed in the two year old lists in the Racehorses of 2013. Most likely they have kept them to sell/race in Japan.

Quick question regarding Sprinter Sacre.
talking to a friend yesterday and he informed me that Sprinter Sacre was only three quarters thoroughbred.
first off is this true and if so what is the other quarter. when I questioned him about it saying I thought only full breds could race he said as long
as they are registered with wetherbys the could race.

A shame we've lost the posts over the last few days. To recap on what I can remember we discussed:
1. Sprinter Sacre is an AQPS horse. More on AQPS horses.

Caspar Netscher has turned out to be sub-fertile. According to the Racing Post, he has only managed to get 3 of his first 55 mares covered in foal. He has been returned to the care of his insurers (indicating a claim has been made) and it is possible he may be returned to training.
Taken from the EBN over the weekend, notable recent arrivals at Cheveley Park Stud:
"Cheveley Park Stud have welcomed more beautifully-bred foals this month. Palatial (Green Desert), a half-sister to Stakes winners Portal (Hernando) and Ice Palace (Polar Falcon), produced a striking bay colt by Nayef on 12th March. He weighed in at a healthy 64 kilograms and is a full-brother to the dual Gr.2 winner and Classic-placed Spacious (Nayef). Palatial visits Medicean in 2013.
Spacious herself produced her second foal on 18th March. The bay son of Azamour weighed an impressive 69 kilograms. Spacious was raced in top company for four seasons, with her most notable victory coming in the Gr.2 Windsor Forest Stakes at Royal Ascot. She was also Gr.1 placed on seven other occasions, including finishing second in the 1,000 Guineas, and is due to visit New Approach in 2013.
The Gr.3 and Listed winner Queenâs Best (Kingâs Best) produced her fourth foal on 4th March. The attractive bay daughter of Dansili weighed a respectable 61 kilograms. Queenâs Best is a daughter of the Gr.3 winner and Gr.1-placed Cloud Castle (In The Wings), and is a granddaughter of the renowned matriarch Lucayan Princess (High Line), who produced the Gr.1 winners Warrsan (Caerleon) and Luso (Salse). Queenâs Best returns to Dansili in 2013.
Fantasize (Groom Dancer), a Stakes-winning half-sister to the Gr.2 winner Dazzle, produced a bay filly on 20th March. The striking daughter of Invincible Spirit weighed in at 65 kilograms. Fantasize now visits Dalakhani.
Stakes winner Irresistible (Cadeaux Genereux) delivered a bay colt on 25th March. The robust son of resident sire Pivotal (Polar Falcon) is a full-brother to Gr.3 Nell Gwyn Stakes winner Infallible. Irresistible visits Acclamation in 2013.
Stakes winner and Group placed Danehill Destiny (Danehill Dancer) delivered her third foal on 8th March, an athletic bay filly by Dutch Art. The mare is closely related to Gr.1 winner Where Or When (Danehill Dancer) and is from the same family as Blushing Groom (Red God). Danehill Destiny visits Medicean in 2013.
The Gr.1 Coronation Stakes and Meon Valley Filliesâ Mile winner Nannina (Medicean) produced an attractive chesnut son of New Approach on 21st March. The foal has a two-year-old full-sister named Dianora in training with Sir Michael Stoute. Nannina visits Nathaniel in 2013.
The Stakes-placed Virtuous (Exit To Nowhere) produced an eyecatching chestnut filly by Pivotal on 5th March, who weighed a healthy 65 kilograms. This makes the foal a full-sister to Gr.1 Lockinge Stakes winner and resident stallion Virtual (Pivotal), as well as being closely related to Gr.2 Coventry Stakes winner Iceman (Polar Falcon). Virtuous visits Redouteâs Choice in 2013.

LEADING JUMPS SIRE BENEFICIAL DIES AT 23
Leading National Hunt sire Beneficial died suddenly at Knockhouse Stud in Co Kilkenny on Saturday. The son of Top Ville was 23.
Beneficial currently heads the National Hunt sire championship by progeny earnings this season and was the only sire to be represented by three winners at the Cheltenham Festival, namely Benefficient in the Gr.2 Jewson Novicesâ Chase, Salsifty in the CGA Foxhunter Chase Challenge Cup and Salubrious in the Martin Pipe Conditional Jockeysâ Handicap Hurdle. Another son, the seven-year-old Kid Cassidy, was second in the Gr.3 Johnny Henderson Grand Annual Chase.
His other big-race winners include three-time Gr.1 chase scorer Realt Dubh, the 2009 Gr.1 RSA Chase hero Cooldine and smart staying hurdler Monksland.
Sean Kinsella, of Knockhouse Stud, where Beneficial had resided since he was a six-year-old, said: âHorses like him donât come around too often and he'll be missed by everyone.
âHe only covered a lot of average mares, but the quality of his stock was exceptionally good. He had four winners alone in Ireland on Sunday, so that just shows you how good he was.
âItâs a big loss to Irish racing â whether weâve got anything close to what he was like, Iâm not so sure. He was a six year-old when he came to us and has been a great servant.
Iâm sure his legacy will live on throughout the years.â
