Thanks PN. A fellow who's a friend of my father was wanting to form a syndicate and buy some mares and he thought I would be a good person to ask (Hah! I have no connection to the breeding world).

12 of Frankel's first 15 mares covered have scanned in foal. I'm guessing MIDDAY is not one of them as I've not seen her name mentioned anywhere.

Yes that's slightly higher than average (are we surprised?!), there will be a slippage rate - mares that will lose their pregnancy further down the line or foals that die at birth, but from 135 mares covered, anything over 100 foals will be good going. The average stallion has a foal rate of about 70%.

Peeping Fawn's first foal. PURELY PRICELESS (Galileo) ran second on her debut at Chantilly this afternoon.

Nass, off the top of my head you are looking at:

New Approach
Sixties Icon
Duke of Marmalade
Henrythenavigator
Sakhee's Secret
Raven's Pass
Mount Nelson

Disappointing. 6 runners and 9/10 fav beaten 1¾l

Maybe like her Mum who was distinctly average,if memory serves, until suddenly blooming after 3/4 runs...maybe not though!

Covering shed pedigree anyhow to fall back on.

I knew I'd missed one! Thanks Stick.

These are the main European sires with first crop two year olds this year:

Aqlaam
Archipenko
Captain Gerrard
Champs Elysees (full-brother to Dansili)
Creachadoir (at stud in France so limited UK runners)
Fastnet Rock (first Northern hemisphere crop)
Le Havre (at stud in France so limited UK runners)
Major Cadeaux
Mastercraftsman
Myboycharlie
Naaqoos (at stud in France so limited UK runners)
Sea the Stars
Soldier of Fortune (at stud in France so limited UK runners)
Virtual
Winker Watson

I suspeect Sea the Stars will be made favourite, but I'd expect his progeny to be better at 3+, like most of the famil.

Aqlaam could be interesting but it must be to Sea the Star's advantage that he ran 3 times as a 2yo and won. Not many 'staying' sires have that in their CV.
