Does it make a difference if he is though? After all, Mourinho is the greatest manager Chelsea have ever had, but it didn't stop them hounding him out of the club.

The point I'm making is that Wenger is the most successful manager Arsenal have ever had. We can only hope that in the future, we have another who can surpass what he has achieved.

    Fossefilberto besides Manchester United

Chelsea have won the league 4 times, the fa cup 4 times and the champions league as well as the europa league in half that time period as well.

Man City are alreafy on 2 league titles and an fa cup in a quarter of the mentioned time period.

  5. The point I'm making is that I am hardly going to admit that he's your greatest ever manager, but I may well do when he retires (or is sacked).

Do you think you'll ever find a manager who will top what he's achieved for your club?

When he goes, it will be the end of an era that saw managers stay at their clubs for over two decades. No way can you believe that you'll find a manager who will achieve that.

    Obviously, yes.

    I genuinely despair.

The point I'm making is that makes no difference whether you admit it or not. He is Arsenal's greatest manager, that is simply an irrefutable fact.

Whether we can find another manager who is as successful as Wenger in the future, we can only hope that we do.

Actually he didn't, he inherited the team from Billy Mc Neil who incidentally had the better win rate.

    What utter ****.

McNeil was there for a year, Ferguson nearly nine.

Whatever Aberdeen achieved was entirely down to Ferguson and had **** all to do with McNeil.

Sure it was, but the season before Saffa took over, Aberdeen lost out to a league/cup double to Rangers by 2 points and the odd goal.

However his achievements at Aberdeen were incredible, even moreso at St Mirren

While Clough certainly had that impact, I highly doubt that he could reinvent his style enough over a massive period of time to sustain success in the way Ferguson did.

Can't exactly say that Forest didn't spend much compared to their rivals, they broke the world record for Francis.

For me, Sir Alex's record will never be broken. 13 league titles, 5 FA Cups, 4 League Cups, 2 Champions Leagues within 27 years. No other club will get near that level of sustained success.
