After the Everton game, I'm not feeling very confident going into this one. That said we've been pretty solid at home. Just hoping Emery doesn't start Guendouzi and Elneny together in the middle again. Are Xhaka and Torreira available ?
Arsenal lost to Everton last weekend, so I don't know what will be in this match. I think it will be draw or Napoli to win... This guy predicted this match very good
Xhaka and Koscielny are 50-50 for the Napoli game, but Torreira will be available, which is a boost. To be honest, at The Emirates, I back us to beat the majority of teams. Only teams to beat us at The Emirates this season have been City (opening day of the season) and Spurs in the League Cup (unimportant game in the grand scheme of things). We've dispatched Man United, Spurs & Chelsea, whilst putting in a good performance and taking a point from a formidable looking Liverpool team on home soil. So we are generally pretty good against the top sides. Away from home is a different story altogether. Which is why we need to win comprehensively and make home advantage count on Thursday.
Yep also lately we've been playing two up top at home and one up top away. Personally dont like this - our strength is cleeearly in attack so should just set up the team to play the same way home and away.
Part of the problem we had against Everton was our lack of width. Mkhitaryan and Ozil are quite similar players in terms of the positions they take on the pitch and the spaces they like to operate in. Guendouzi and Elneny are not always 'forward thinking' passers, which meant we were stuck passing it backwards and sideways. Subsequently, Mkhitaryan and Ozil dropped deeper to collect the ball, leaving Lacazette isolated and it meant Everton could play a higher line because we had no-one to get in behind. As soon as Iwobi came on, Everton were pegged back and were trying to double up on him. We need to be more dynamic away from home as we are at home. Torreira coming back will make a big difference because he's a tough-tackling player who looks to play the ball forward. Hopefully he will be fully energised and ready for battle tomorrow.
Personally would like to see.. --------------------------Leno(sorry Cech)------------------------ ------------Kos--------Sokratis-----------Monreal----------------- AMN---------Torr/Xhaka---------Ramsey------------Kolasinac -------------------------------Ozil--------------------------------------- --------------Lacazette---------------Aubamayang---------------
I want to see us start this game on the front foot and really press Napoli high up the pitch. If we get the crowd fired up early then we'll have the momentum to really take the game to them and potentially give ourselves good lead to take to Napoli.
Excellent first half! Our midfield and fullbacks were excellent. Ozil is getting into some great positions. When we increase the pace of the play they struggle to cope with us. When it slows down they start to come back into the game. Need to keep up that high intensity.
Good first half that for us. Only slight regret is that we didn't score more. Lacazette had a golden opportunity and missed the ball completely, Ramsey was a bit unlucky with that bounce right on HT. Imperative that we keep a clean sheet in the 2nd half. If we can take a 2-0 lead to Napoli then I think we're in with a great chance of progressing and arguably knocking out the strongest team left in the comp.
