Naive is the perfect word for it. Oxo showing he hasn't matured yet. After scoring the wonder goal he lost his head. And where the **** was everyone else? I know we are searching for the equaliser but there is a minute on the clock and at 2-1 we can go there thinking we can win, but at 3-1 know we are out of it. Just ****ing stupid not to organise ourselves. The team had no focus. We need not just an enforcer in midfield but a leader. The whole team need to take a look at themselves after that.

I feel so deflated right now.... Such a good opportunity blown. Hope wenger goes mad at them.

We have been doing good, but I think our good form got some people carried away, as good as we have been recently, it was still clear that much work needed to still be done.

To repeat what Claude from Arsenalfantv said, there were cracks that were simply being peppered over.

Those who wanted him gone prior will still want him gone and those that didn't still won't. It's a really disappointing night but the season isn't over yet.

I'm lost for what to do now..... So frustrated with the result.... I had hoped we would get past Monaco as there is a good chance at a decent quarter final this year. Dreams of a semi final have most definitely dissipated.

Still plenty domestically to fight for but there is something special about European competition and it's a shame we will go out in these circumstances. In previous years we have gone out to eventual finalists or finalists from the previous year and only narrowly gone out in respectful fashion (mostly), but this time around it just feels really ****ty.

We've not been good enough in the CL this season. And the way we lost tonight leaves a real bitter taste in the mouth.

We conceded 3 to Anderlecht after being 3-0 up. If that doesn't tell you anything nothing will. I can count the number of good Arsenal performances in this season's CL on about two fingers.

You'll get 3rd and qualify for next year with Wenger but you wont win the title or the Champs League.

Its a similar pattern which has been going on for pretty much a decade and with Wenger the following will happen:

Next year - knocked out the champions league, won't win the league but qualify for next year.......
Year after -knocked out the champions league, won't win the league but qualify for next year.......
Following - knocked out the champions league, won't win the league but qualify for next year.......

There surely must become a point where people go - 'hang on we have standards, this isn't enough!'

You have the money, the stadium, the fans and a very good squad.

You have all the ingredients to become a worldie club but it just doesn't happen.

A competent manager would be competing for honours with this team and with the finance available.

    Far too comfortable.

    He is finished.

I agree with you and there's plenty we can achieve domestically. We can still have a good season and we could still improve on last season if we come third and retain the cup. But tonight has been thoroughly disappointing. The way we gave away that third goal brought me down to the ground like a piano off the roof of a building. If only they had composed themselves at the end after scoring it'd be a totally different mood and situation. Argh!

Time to take my mind off things....where's the politics thread :p ....or maybe I'll just put something different on the tv!

Last season we got top four and won the FA Cup. We still have the potential to finish the season with the Community Shield (already won), another FA Cup and an improved league position. That'd be an improvement on last season and depending on how things go the only team other than Chelsea to win anything this season.

In that hypothetical does wenger not deserve another season to see how he does?

The point being, surely it's better to wait until the end of the season and judge then?

Been telling them this for 18 months.
They are far better placed than ANYONE, including United, who are feeling Fergie withdrawals and trying to adapt to a complete overhaul.
Arsenal have the fans, the money, the stadium and (some of) the players.
They should at least be competing for the league with this team, they need a new spine though. They remind me of Chelsea last season. No one to marshal the midfield (until we got Matic) and no one to put the ball away and constantly relying on a winger wizard (in our case hazard, in theirs Sanchez) to rescue them every week.
Difference is, even without a decent spine, Mourinho had us competing for the title least year and we got damn close to winning it.

Wenger is finished....has been for a long time.
Sacking him now achieves nothing, as Arsenal will finish 3rd of 4th under Wenger this season, which is the best they can hope for under anyone this year now.
Keep him till the end of the season, get your top 4 spot, then let him go and bring someone in who can have you competing.
His constant failures in Europe are becoming embarrassing.

Well he's had 10 years of 'deserving another year' - how long do you wait? It's like you're stuck in a relationship with someone you know you don't really see a future with but you're scared of what its like without her!

Regards your second point I agree, I wasn't suggesting he should be relieved now.

I'm not even an Arsenal fan but the situation annoys me.
