We hear a lot of neurosis(series of thoughts going round and round) from Arsenal fans about the fact that they've finished higher than us a number of times in recent years and yes they are right. The reason being stable management. They've had Wenger for a long time now whereas we've had coach after coach after coach some only lasting a couple of months. Now we have Harry in his third season and look how quickly we've caught up and overtaken them. We have a far better head to head against them in the last 10 matches. Chelsea are now finding out what too many coaches can do. If we can just get the right coach in if Harry leaves we will be consistently above Arsenal as we once were.

On a serious note I'm hoping age goes against him, I can only see him as a short term fix at 65, when the team needs re-shaping to build toward future Cup Comps. A younger manager is obviously more to suitable with time and some continuity in mind.
 
I've heard talk about Ancelotti and I consider him the perfect choice notsosmart. He's had experience at the highest level in Italy and steered Chelsea to the double. He's a top coach and would steer us above Arsenal on a regular basis.

Chelsea are a team in decline and turmoil. Arsenal will continue to falter and not win anything with Wengers current philosophy and approach and I cant see Wenger changing his stubborn attitude.

Tottenham Hotspur really really impress me. They have a wonderful team of fantastic players who are really now gelling better than they ever have been in the premiership. Scotty Parker is the glue and the fulcrum of the team and playing off this fulcrum is the likes of Modric, Bale, lennon, Adebayor etc. Sandro is developing too and it looks wonderful.

If Harry gets the England job I can see Ancelotti getting the Spurs job and I really will not be suprised to see Spurs challenging for the premiership soon because they are the team to challenge the dominance of Manchester. Its a wonderful wonderful club and I wouldent be suprised if they are in the running for the top slot come March. I personally dont think they will win the premiership this season as they dont have experience but I wouldent be supised to see them in the running come March
 
You've already posted that on another thread Rev Heenan and it seems a little oleaginous to me but I agree with you about Chelsea. Arsenal are not faltering at the moment but I think they might once they suffer their next loss as Chelsea did against QPR. I already think that Spurs will challenge with Harry.

@ The Mighty Thor, I absolutely agree that continuity with a good manager has been key to our success. Harry came in and made an instant impression (as I am sure that everyone will recall). Our run of results during the second half of that first season was awesome, and would have seen us challenging for the title, had we been so consistent during the first half of the season. In his first full season, we finished 4th. Last season we finished 5th, just behind Arsenal, but only because we had expended a lot of our first team resources in pursuing a tremendous run in the CL - our first time ever in that competition. Harry seemed to know exactly what had to be done to get our squad to work, and it's clearly the case that he sees us as a work in progress. I'm hoping that he'd refuse the England in order to finish the job. Surely, he must realise that he has more chance of winning the EPL title with Spurs than he has of winning the World Cup with England?

But, if he does go - and that day will come at some point, even if he doesn't get or take the England job - I have little doubt that Levy will get in a top manager, and not make the mistakes he made with Ramos.
 
This isn't the first run of unbeaten matches that we've had under Harry HIAG and it won't be the last. I have to eat humble pie here because Harry has done much better over this period of time than I thought he would. He played for West Ham in the 60's when English football had a number of good managers. Ron Greenwood was his boss and he was surrounded by England internationals and the standards of the era have passed on to him and hence on to us. He will continue to do this if he stays with us and keep us consistently above Arsenal and Chelsea etc.

I must say, that although I wasn't against Harry when he became manager (far from it, in fact), I do admit that he would not have been the first name I'd have thrown into the ring. I've always liked him as a manager, and thought he did great things for West Ham, keeping them in the top flight for so long, and then again with Portsmouth. He's a manager who needs money to spend, because he has a very definite idea of the kinds of players he wants and needs to make his teams work, and I am sure that he is loving being at Spurs, because he has the kind of budget and financial security that has always alluded him at all of his other clubs.
 
He did well at Portsmouth on a limited budget and very well at West Ham so I have to agree with you. But a word of caution,Levy won't tolerate a manager for too long who doesn't produce trophies and Harry must do that and soon. With Chelsea faltering we stand a better chance of making top 3 I would say and not just top 4. We can out do Arsenal as we once did,it's only a matter of time. It's difficult to see who will take over after Wenger and it will come as a huge shock to the Arsenal system which is why I would like Ancelotti because Arsenal could snap him up after Wenger.

You'll know from my postings on previous threads that I whole-heartedly agree with you on this point. We have a side that is capable of easily finishing third, let alone 4th.

As regards Levy's attitude towards his managers, you may well be right. With Harry, though, I really don't see how he can do any better than he has done at this point in the club's development, especially baring in mind that we are hopelessly behind with our stadium project. Certainly, I doubt that any other manager would have done any better than Harry. The side is looking fantastically well-balanced, and it is justifiable in my view that all of us, senior club management included, should have every expectation that this side can start to some good things.

I haven't seen much of him before now, and I haven't seen anything overtly racist from him, so I'm prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt for now. It being understood, of course, that, along with the rest of you guys, I absolutely abhor racism or ethnic bigotry.

His hatred of black players is legendary, just ask some of the Arsenal guys Cym, Supa, Piskie etc. Not a nice chap at all.<ok>
 
Ginger,as you may have noticed I described his post in a somewhat sinister way and his attitude did seem somewhat sycophantic and somehow unreal. Thank you for the warning and if he is a racist then he can just disappear. I think that we can cope with in fighting between two sets of fans who have been fighting since God knows when.
Now I'm going to be watching Chelsea v Wolves very closely tomorrow. If Chelsea lose they are in deep trouble. Arsenal should beat Fulham so I think we can say that they'll still be snapping at our heels tomorrow evening. Harry must do better in the eyes of Levy HIAG.
 
Just a bit more before I go. If Heenan hates black players then he's a barsteward. How does he know the colour of the posters on these boards? I might be of Afro Caribbean origin for all he knows and here he is posting on my thread. I hope he just pees off if you are right ginger.

Cheers for that, mate. I just hope we can emulate some of the incredible success you guys have had. I now see that this is a possible wind-up. If so, you can **** right off. Like most Spurs fans, I have no great love for Arsenal. However, most of their fans who post on here are reasonable, intelligent, people. So, if your intent was to stir things up between us, you're wasting your time. This is not the old 606, nor, thank god, JA606, most of the fans who post on here have more than half a brain.

'oleaginous' Thanks Mighty Thor, great word and spot on in it's use here. The Rev Oleaginous is not to be trusted and is unlikely to succeed on the Spurs board where our average poster will spot him a mile off. <ok>
