UTD fan Plastic now, down to cost. I started to support them in 74 when the were relegated to the old Division 2
Forgot to add I became a UTD supporter due to my uncle being a season ticket holder and bringing my Brother and me the program back.
Forgot to mention I stopped going after our first year back in the PL . Best match I ever saw ( as in most entertaining ) was playing Bristol Rovers in 2009 , and we lost .
I always made a pledge, not that it's ever likely to happen but...I've always said that if my team ever made it to the Prem i would stop watching them play until they dropped back out of it again. I hate the Prem and everything it stands for.
I said on our board that I work in Southampton ( Now live in BH22 ) . There are lots of Supporters there , young and old . They don't particularly want to get relegated , but their over riding concern if / when we go down is NOT the football , many miss the other places / games and general pleasure of the lower leagues . Their major concern is the financial damage to the Club and nothing else . The PL , like my first love is sport ( F1 ) is just a cash cow .
CFC Share 2 seasons (MHL £750) and have 4 memberships Don’t have Sky Go to 15/20 games a season Get restricted view mHL tickets (£23.50) and Family section ones too No idea Go to Bees, around £30 father and daughter In relegation zone Div 2 1983, Clive Walker saved us local team and dad supported them. Still live 2 miles from ground and go to matches with same mates from school
So your uncle brought you back a programme on the day United were relegated and that is why you decided to support them. Believe!!!
That's why i love the lower league, we mainly get left unaffected by the cash cow. The only difference I'm starting to see is when Championship sides come down, they tend to bounce straight back up, unless they came down with severe financial difficulties. Hopefully lessons will be learned from Blackpool but looking at some supporters even around my own club, I very much doubt it. Due to the influence of SKY a lot of fans these days are prepared to sell their soul to the devil.
Must admit I have SKY , purely for F1 , but have already told MRS J I will be getting rid when the contract is up .
I saw Tiverton town at Wembley with my Cousin and her future husband , can't even remember the name of the cup , Tiverton lost , but what a day I also saw the Pope at Wembley , not joking , he was **** at crosses .....
I will answer later when on my laptop. But as a Sunderland fan, it been up and down, mostly down. From division one to division three. From the Prem and now it will be back to league one. I only get to a few a season now, but I'm not that bothered if it's the Prem, although everyone wants to be there obviously, as it's where all the top players are.
