"Comment" is about right..as "answer" in a serious fashion is unlikely !

OK..the answers are as follows and I will give OddDog 1 point for being partly correct .....

Reference Point and New Approach were both Champion 2 year olds who both went on to win the Derby as the first classic they won.

Reference Point and Camelot both posted identical times in winning the Derby.

The winning jockeys of the 5 Derby winners advised also rode a winner of the Melbourne Cup.....i.e Neville Sellwood , Pat Glennon and Michael Kinane

    Enjoy !

Nice reply Oddy and I did actually give the winner of the 1961 National to my Dad,who won 14 pounds backing it at 28/1, though I lost a small fortune in the 1996 Derby on the 4/6 favourite,Entrepreneur, and luckily got it all back on the very next race on the Queens horse Arabian Story at 6/4 !

Anyway...the clue is in the question itself !

    Good luck !

I was born on the very day Quare Times won the Grand National and my 8 years older brother got me into Horse Racing when I was 5 and we watched the first ever televised Grand National on BBC in 1960, though my first pick in the race came the following year when my Dad asked me to pick a horse for him and I chose Nicolaus Silver as I liked the name and my older brother was called Nicolas !!

I know,Oddy,I am a lot older than I actually look and still play 5 a side football every Wednesday night !

Oh, I don't know, think you're being modest. Actually, I stumbled across a photo of you at some ticketing soirée, and, I'd say you probably match your age in looks?

    "3.What links the results of the following races 1961 Grand National,1992 Derby,1996 Derby,2007 Grand National ? "

They were all won by a horse with a jockey on top.

Have to admit you're absolutely right, was always a close-run thing, but would you believe it, I struggled through my finals (think they call them A-levels now?). My maths teacher was a tough old Welshman (former Glamorgan county cricketer) and he damn nearly fainted. My very modest success was, in the end, a personal triumph for him.

Nota Bene? The useful sprinter of Elsworths? The horse that's dam was called Dodo? The dam sired the second in the 2003 Hungerford Stakes as well.
