My opinion is that we have made progress since the sacking of Rodgers.
But in terms of where we are at, then I've got to say we are nowhere near the team we had with Suarez (which should have won the title). The real downer this season has been the slide down the table after we had a realistic challenge for the title in November/December. To me and many others, we should have prepared more for injuries by having a bigger and better squad. Basically we had to buy last summer and winter. With a better quality squad, we would have had an even better season.
I don't buy this rather artificial (and silly) points per money spent argument. In that case the best seasons are always had by the likes of Southampton and other selling clubs as they always have a negative net spend. Next season, we could have a great season, good cup runs, get the same number of points and be 2nd or even first (unlikely) after having spent £100m. We would have made definite progress but looking at the stats like an accountant we would think it was appalling. It should be about the football, the trophies, the league positions and challenges and not points.
