No wonder the results in the Prem this season are all over the place:
    • Project restart meant getting players fit fast
    • Remaining games crammed into 4 weeks so 2 games per week and even more for clubs in cups.
    • Very short close season with some clubs in Europe not getting a break
    • On top of this the stupidity of Internationals and especially friendlies
Leeds with small squad pick up injuries to Llorente, Phillips, Cooper, Dallas, Alioski, Pablo and Rodrigo to covid. Almost half of the first team squad and we have only just been promoted

I think Dallas is okay as he played last night thankfully! It would be after Douglas leaving Dallas and Alioski would get injured, haha. Very good Davis to the rescue if this happened.

Given the stupid things that have happened this year I think it would be great if the PL had a European style shut down over the Christmas/ New Year period. It might give the players a chance to get back on track. I know it wont happen but .....

Spain: La Liga effectively has two sets of two-week breaks. The first is Dec. 21 through to Jan. 4. There is then another break through to Jan. 18. However, there will be a round of the Copa del Rey on the weekend of Jan. 11 with Spain changing its cup competition to one-legged ties and slotting the second round on a weekend. Teams from lower divisions will face La Liga teams, so many players at the top clubs may be rested.

Germany: A mammoth four-week break that begins after the games on the weekend of Dec. 21, with the Bundesliga restarting on the weekend of Jan. 18.

Italy: Another league with a two-week break. It starts following the weekend of Dec. 21 through to Jan. 4.

France: Will also begin its winter break after Dec. 21, with a three-week break before returning to action three weeks later on Jan. 11. However, there will be a round of the Coupe de France on the weekend of Jan. 4 so technically the rest will be just two weeks.

This is the 3rd International break and we haven't even done 10 league matches yet. We have different rules in England on number of subs so makes it even harder t rest players whereas 5 subs used everywhere else.

Spain is having same problem as Premier League as Real Madrid getting battered by bankrupt Valencia and struggling, Barcelona struggling, in Germany even Bayern are getting beat. Strange results all over Europe even PSV getting tanked

Even the SPL has had a break for a few years. Really surprises me that england seems so resistant. No doubt the reason is financial.

Personally I wouldn't want a winter break. It is part of our tradition playing on Boxing Day and should be New Year's Day. I would rather ditch the international games and friendlies which should have been at the back of the queue.

I agree but if there’s still no supporters allowed in it seems a good idea to have a break this season.

Because christmas this year with the batflu is going to be a pile of ****.
So, pile of **** christmas with football is better than plain pile of **** christmas.

Would have thought that was fairly obvious.

This year xmas in the UK is not going to be anything like the usual joyous celebration we're used to sharing with family and friends. Therefore keeping as much normality as possible is vital to the nations mental well being. Football in particular and sport in general play a massive role in boosting the morale of the nation. So whether that's participating or viewing on television we simply have to do the absolute best wherever and whenever we can to keep all that is positive up and running.

If the players need a week off then let it be in January when we're all usually grumpy anyway <laugh>

I'm not particularly religious but surely respect for what Christmas is actually for wouldn't go amiss. Ignoring that though how do the other countries manage such as Spain, France, Germany or are you saying that they are just used to not having football at Christmas. Personally I would much prefer to have a break over Christmas and miss out on the internationals. Then I would be able to watch the boxing day test match without any concerns about football results!!!!

I would. Give the players a break, they’re picking up injuries and somehow it will be worse than normal without fans.
