I dont understand why people expected us to start acting like this extremely professional football club once pardew had left (for whatever reason)..as if it was literally just pardew that was holding us back. There was a poll on this board not very long ago which asked which was the main problem with the club, ashley or pardew...with the vote pretty much split half and half, honestly couldnt understand it. Well anyway, pardews gone and his replacement is not only someone who isnt as good as him but, judging by some of the quotes, who seems to idolise him (slight exaggeration, but still)
Still worried about us going down this year. Weve been pretty fortunate so far.
also, not having a go at people for disliking pardew and wanting different, more having a go at the attitude that i mentioned earlier. He may be smarmy or whatever (headbutts) but he isnt the sole reason we are in this middling situation or the reason a lot of our fans are descending into apathy. All this talk of us getting de boer or someone equally promising just seems like pure fairytales..i may be wrong...but on top of is being an ambitionless football club, it also may seem to outsiders (not saying i agree with this whatsoever) that we hounded out a competent manager. I dont expect us to bring in anyone of any great caliber, we may end up with a promising foreign coach that will bring hope of decent football but they will still be restrained by ashleys business model and it could all end in disaster. My one hope is the increased tv revenue brings some sort of fresh impetus but we all know that will be constrained as well.
also, I like john carver, bur he shouldnt be our manager by choice.
