Funny how all of these clichés can easily be applied to our club - I've tried a few - please feel free to add to.

In any way, shape, or form

Speak truth to power (HR to TF)

Last time I checked

Think outside the box (required for our team selections)

When the rubber meets the road (when Villa come to LR next Mon)

Hit the ground running (ditto as above)

A perfect storm (HR + AT + TF)

Connect the dots (HR needs to do this PDQ)

Light at the end of the tunnel (hopefully for our club)

It is what it is (HR statement after losing yet another game)

Throw under the bus (has to be Adel)

Mission-critical stakeholders (all of us)

Drink the Kool-Aid

Reinvent the wheel (HR keeps trying to)

To cut a long story short

Let’s cut to the chase

Beating around the bush (definitely a lot of this going on!)

Read my lips

Low hanging fruit (the KISS principle)

Who moved my cheese? (must be Wubba)

Put a bug in his ear (Sir Les to TF)

Start with a clean slate (our new manager)

Going forward (our club)

Paradigm shift (what our club requires)

Boys will be boys (HR & HT fisty cuffs)

Stand and deliver (your Lupins or your life!)

By the numbers (new method for HR team selections)

It goes without saying

My two cents (Rio, Barton on Twitter)

Where I’m coming from

In my previous life

Let’s touch base

My people will call your people

Let’s do face time

Let’s take this offline

We’re opening a Pandora’s Box

Team player (Clint Hill)

I’m just saying…

For what it’s worth

Pull the trigger (TF needs to)

Worth the wait (for our new manager)

Best for last

This I promise you (Mark Hughes statement "not on my watch")

Running in circles (SWP)

Not sure if this is strictly a cliché, but people using the noun, party, as a verb....to party. Let's party!!!! :steam:

"We're going to play hard ball now"

"Pedal to the metal"

"Just desserts"

"It goes without saying"

"It's not rocket science"

How I hate this! Just because I don't understand anything of a practical nature doesn't mean I'm thick (I might be but that is an irrelevance). The same as understanding a P&L doesn't give me permission to demean any person who can't follow the figures!

'He's got a good engine'. In other words he can't control or pass a ball to save his life but at least he can run around like a headless chicken.

Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one but they think each others stink ... and all of them are full of sh!t.

Sounds like this board!

"Taken out to the wood shed" - always wondered what went on there, Harry?

"A slack handful of Alice" - as a young lad working on a geophysical seismic survey ship in the mid 70's, one of the old hands on the scientific crew used this expression a lot.

Also when working in Portugal as we approached Oporto cruising up the Douro River for the Norwegian ship's crew change, there was a young long haired blond Adonis deckhand awaiting the ship's arrival and I remember this guy Mike exclaimed:-

"Guess who's in the barrel tonight!"
