Because the £200m was supposed to be part of the reason they got the club at under half price, and was the basis of their counter-argument to Hicks' lawsuit in the High Court. Keep up. :emoticon-0112-wonde

Like I said, not aware of the contractual details so can’t really comment on that though.

I get the point but i assume that cos they wrote off the 50mil debt on the stadium thing and cancelled it they have somehow invalidated the 200mil agreement :)

LFC have ourselves paid 200mil or WILL PAY 200mil by the end for the main stand and Anfield road end.

frankly if the deal was done properly the 200mil should have been deposited in an escrow account and protected for any development.

As it was not; why should they not get away with anything they can. you or i would see a klopp who can win a tophy and go great lets make this lot pay their own way.

LFc have also paid for kirkby upgrade too. so thats another one.

I don't know of another club in the 2000s who's paid 200mil for a stadium, 50mil for training facility and 120mil for players and won the prem and CL. We have grown the revenues and paid all of that out of the money coming in.

Its actually pretty much thanks BARCA more than thanks FSg ;)

Yep, but that's not the point. £200m of FSG's purchase was supposedly for developing the stadium. Pointing out that the Glazers are crooks is just one step removed from the whataboutery that FSG are still better than H&G, as if we should be grateful. Not a dig at you, but that is the fallback of my family and friends who are reds, and are still simpering that FSG 'saved' us, despite the fact that the value of NESV's initial investment has increased tenfold to £3bn.
Here's what I don't understand. You don't think we should be grateful to have FSG as owners and yet you are delighted for the fans that a murderous bunch of despots has bought Newcastle. How do you square that in your head?

Er, the same way I can appreciate the football played by Mane and Salah, while despising the fact that their countries allow female genital mutilation, I suppose, if we're going down the road of what is the falsest equivalence you can think of today. <confused>

I don't care that FSG aren't giving us free money... All I care is that the club is being run in a growing and sustainable manner. I have faith we won't go into receivership.

I made no false equivalence at all, unlike your response. :bandit:

My comment was merely an observation based on how you view our owners and Newcastle's owners. For me there's no contest. It's not even like Newcastle's owners are citizens of a country with a despotic regime (like your example of horrendous cultural practices within the countries some of our players are from). They are the regime.

I find it infuriating tbh but I will leave it there.

UEFA rules make it illegal for football clubs to be owned by states. Apart from Real Madrid. And Chelsea by Russia, obviously. Stavely can maintain all that whilst keeping a straight face. Though it's difficult to imagine her doing anything else. :emoticon-0114-dull:

just an update on this.

now the roof truss is actually being built behind the anfield road stand and will be lifted into position over the summer and the roofing is likely to be in place so the anfield road roof will actually be removed during the world cup. cranes on the pitch etc.

The roof truss will be hidden inside the facing of the new stand so it could be very..... well... unpleasant in there next season over jan to march.

All is on schedule apparently to open season after next and it does look a giant edifice doesn't it.

steel works flying up now. The roof comes off during the world cup. the upper teir sections are just going in now and you can start to get a sense of the size of the final stand.

Progress is looking good.

Progress is looking good.

Its going to have double that new steel work ramp thats gone in in height. whats gone in so far is not going over the top of the building thats under construction that will house the fan concourses and hospitality suites

the building that's up so far is the purple bits and home GA concourse and lifts/stairs.

the roof in dotted red is meant to come out in the world cup and the roof for the new stand is being built behind the stand and will be raised up into position above that for the jan to may part of season.

If you look below sight line sin green dotted lines are shown. the person at the very back seat up in the absolute sky will see the goal below still but the folks in the lower anfield road end will finally actually be able to see a game without thinking they are looking through a letterbox.

7000

Officially today with regs etc capacity is 53,394

aim is to have 61,015.

the vast majority are general admission for the fans and it bring us on a par with the other clubs like arsenal and spurs and WEST HAM.

that was first plan. its gone up to make it make sense

closing the anfield road off on match days and having it one way for cars who have to thread their way round on non match days has allowed us pack more in this upper tier. its ****ing massive.

Cool.

Does this mean anfield can now host major football events? Or Is that dependant on stadium size and pitch size?

no we will never host a major final

the pitch size is 101x68m

the requirement to get a final is 105x68m

we are 4 m short and have not dealt with that in the planning here. The design relies on the in place steel works. we never dealt with this in phase 1.

Its not big enough anyway for a CL final. thats min 70k but would have been big enough for europa.
