Just a short story regarding Andy Saville I thought was funny, most might know he's a postman now and I was making a delivery myself down Curlew close near to noddle hill and bumped into him, he was wandering around trying to find his address and I was trying to find mine and so was helping each other haha he then thanked me for my help, I should of talked football with him I suppose but didn't in the end, nice bloke. I remember his time at City clearly especially the cold night game at Boothferry Park when we beat Grimsby Town 1-0 in the cup and he scored the goal, I recall everyone shouting at Nigel Batch the Town keeper(about his weight) but I think he took it in good humour, the same night I was privileged to be in the away changing rooms having asked for Mick Lyons autograph (player/manager) as well as getting all the City ones too, great night back in 86

Must be getting on a bit Andy. Doesn't get mentioned much when it comes to City legends but he was decent for us, was one of those players around at a time before you could make decent money from football and didn't retire as a pro till quite late on I seem to remember.

Justin Whittles a Postman as well, though he seems to have a new run because he now delivers in the South Cave area(he used to do Driffield). I only know because he delivered to a mate of mine who lives in South Cave.

The funny thing is, my mate used to play in the same SC vets alongside his Whittleness. Said mate smiled broadly and after Justin handed over his parcel..."Hi mate how you doing?" Whittle "Yeah i'm mate good cheers" whilst wandering off.

I like to think Justin did recognise him, but knows he's just a Villa fan, so **** him <laugh>

My sister was Mr G Myhill's postperson a few years ago.

She got his signature on numerous occasions.

That is all.

Justin only played a couple of vets games, he said everyone just wanted to kick lumps out of him.

I wouldn't know about that, I know he didn't play many, but one thing my Villa pal did say was, he was a class above anyone he'd ever played with. Funny thing is, he played midfield for them.

Wasn't Mr Batch also referred to in a very camp way, by our fans at that game, Like constantly calling out Nigel, Nigel in the said camp voice with accompanying wrist action.

When i was an apprentice at Reckitts we had a five a side competition and Mr Sav played for the warehouse i think it was. When playing for the apprentices it was my job, to kick lumps out of Mr Sav to stop him playing, due to my legendary skills i displayed (and it wouldn't really matter if i got sent off). I think the first time he got the ball my foot homed straight onto his leg...... I think 4 goals later i realised i wasn't having too much impression on his game.
