A really horrible injury v Spurs looked like he’d snapped both bones below the knee. Looked a bit like the injury suffered by David Busst.

I think Son was puking when he left the pitch.... how the chuff did he get red carded...? it might just might have been a yellow...

An abhorrent injury, hoping he gets well asap but it's really not looking good.
On the red card, VAR should've been used to overturn it, but knowing VAR, it would've somehow resulted in him getting a second red card.

Regardless of VAR or no VAR, and whatever happened in the Liverpool/Villa game I thought Martin Atkinson handled that game today really well. Red card for Son? Maybe not but there was no way he was staying on the pitch after what happened, yellow card followed by substitution might have looked a bit cynical. Fact is it was a retaliatory foul after he'd dived chasing a penalty and a bloke got mashed up because of it. I have no problem with the red.
Son committed a foul but it wasn't dangerous until Gomez fell onto the other Tottenham player.
If Gomes doesn't collide with Aurier and snap his leg, it would've remained a yellow, which Atkinson was initially going to give. Son's challenge caused that collision, but Son's challenge in itself was a regular yellow card for a cynical challenge. It was exactly the same as what Johansen did for Fulham just yesterday on Grosicki.
I think Pochettino would've subbed him off. He was absolutely inconsolable. Mentally, Son might not even want to play the next couple of games.

I have now seen it from the other angle and it does look like the injury was caused by his foot stuck in the turf.
Agree with all of that, I just don't have a problem with the red. It might have been 'technically' incorrect but in the context of what happened overall I think it was ok.
Just different opinions.
Regardless, Son wouldn't have been playing the next few games, red card or not - he'll be absolutely all over the place mentally, I wouldn't blame him if he didn't want to play (if he wasn't suspended) as a result of this.
True, he'll be in a dreadful place, but with the right help he'll recover, and I'll be happy for him. Gomes could possibly never play again no matter how much help he gets. When will people learn that actions have consequences.
He could have always have not fouled him in the first place. Or is that too much to ask?
Question Plum - if it had been a 100% clean tackle, won the ball, but Gomes still fell into Aurier, his boot stuck in the ground, and snapped his leg, would you still call it a red card?
Should every foul result in a sending off because it could, because of freak circumstances, result in serious injury? Or only when a serious injury occurs?
Hypothetical question because it wasn't. However if it had been a clean tackle it wouldn't even have been a yellow so the question doesn't arise.
You can't give a red card unless a yellow is given first? A referee can still give a red without giving a yellow first.
The tackle Son made was a revenge tackle from an incident a few moments earlier. Although the tackle didn’t cause the injury, the intent due to the previous incident did.
