Surprised, given your previous postings, you haven't mentioned it is Jim Morrison's birthday, born 1943.


Janis Joplin was also born in 1943. Both died aged 27. Hard to imagine either of them as 73 year olds.

Well, as my old French teacher used to say when exasperated at the lack of enthusiasm and liveliness, for heaven's sake we are all dying at the same rate, a day at a time.

Next year will be 50 years since Otis Redding was killed. Can remember it more clearly than far more recent events.

Same with Ian Curtis, hard to imagine him doing the 'dead fly dance' at 60 years.

Yes, where did it all go wrong for him?<laugh>

I never let my dad forget his parting remark as I set off to see to see the Stones in May 1964, the night of the West Ham V Preston Final "Make the most of it. Another six months and no one will remember them". He only made it to 70.

I remember my dad watching the Stones on the Old Grey Whistle Test back in the late 60's. He watched in silence for a bit then came out with 'huh, I bet they've all got vd'.

A popular theory amongst some was that they were all a load of long haired puffs. <laugh>Our deputy headmaster stated that due to the lack of regular haircuts they would all be bald by the time they were 30. Ironic as he was about 40 and as bald as a coot so hardly a glowing advert for the benefits of regular haircuts himself.

When I was at college, a lass I was seeing told me she'd recently broken up with one of the blokes in Deep Purple. The next day I went to the clinic and got myself checked out! Before you ask, I was OK.
