Costa ask if you want milk in it for some reason. My stock response is, "No thanks, it's an Americano". I assume it's in their training rather than being due to customers asking for milk in it.

If you want black coffee with milk in it, ask for a flat white.

Global Freezing or Global Warming???

First there was Wally the Walrus, who was spotted off the coast of Ireland, thousands of miles from his arctic home and who then ventured off to Wales, to France and to Spain but was last spotted off the coast of Iceland. Waters must be getting cold for him to venture south.

Now, an Egyptian Vulture has been spotted in the west of Ireland. Air must be getting warmer as he is thousands of miles north of where he should be.

I had one fly over my house some years ago. It was riding a thermal and I couldn’t believe what I was seeing.
Turns out that it had escaped from an owl and eagle place near Andover.

Wally must have wanted to get away fast, seems a walrus will do anything to avoid hobnobbing with other flying creatures, especially owls & eagles. :emoticon-0100-smile
The scene would have made an ideal image for a Floyd album cover !

I read that as " I had one fly". I though so what? I get dozens of 'em!

I typically have an Americano, which as you say is in and of itself black, but have (or should I join in and say "take") literally a splash of milk with it just to take the edge off the bitterness. Why would I want to ask for a flat white which is a very different type of coffee? Many people prefer a splash or more of milk with their Americano, which still doesn't turn it into anything like a flat white, and I guess is why the staff ask the customer. Is it so hard or so much of an inconvenience to have to just say "no thanks"?
