If City are playing in London, I'd much rather travel there by train than in a car, for comfort. And it must be a lot better for the environment if everyone did that. Yet financially you're dissuaded from doing so, because for some reason rail tickets are hideously expensive. Some of the pricing arrangements are just plain bizarre, such as the 'split ticketing' situation where you can save loads by buying two or more separate tickets for the exact same train service (for argument's sake Hull to Selby and then Selby to London; you're not even getting off the train, just by buying two separate tickets you can save a lot).
I always book well in advance! You can get some cracking deals! Went to West Ham ( travelled the Friday ) £30 return and my lad was £6
Booking early is certainly the key (and hope the PL doesn't change KO time); I used to drive to the outskirts and train/tube in - not so keen on M'way driving so it's rare I do that nowadays, last resort is TT. There are some ok people on there but, too many of the type that Filey talks about in an earlier post to make it enjoyable.
The automobile industry is going to change drastically over the next few years. Supercapacitors are going to revolutionise "battery" charging time and increase vehicle ranges by a massive amount. Ford and others are looking to manufacture fully autonomous cars, as in, no steering wheel or pedals within the next 5 years thus reducing accidents and collisions meaning that we won't need to ride in heavy, sturdy, metal boxes. This will pave the way for 3D printed carbon fibre chassis which are lighter and cheaper, increasing range and reducing energy consumption even further. Logarithmic equations can cut the number of taxis in an urban setting by 75% whilst still providing the same number of journeys. Car ownership will decrease as the cost of private insurance soars and more autonomous vehicles become available "on demand". Even if you own your car, you'll be able to take it to work and then let it go out and provide journeys for others, for a fee of course. Contactless charging will become a feature on roads so you'll never even need to stop. If this all sounds like a fantasy, try describing a ZX Spectrum to a 14 year old and watch his face when you tell him that nobody had a mobile phone when you were at school. When my nephew got in my Cortina a couple of years ago, he didn't know what the windy things on the inside of the door were for and was looking for the button to open the window. The times, they are a'changin.
Ah that's good. Sounds like a goer then all this Jetsons malarkey. One question though, will I be able to get pissed and travel home in my own car alone as I will not be controlling the vehicle?
This is why I'm interested as I live in the middle of nowhere. So far any accidents caused by the vehicle while in autonomous mode have been the responsibility of the manufacturer. If there's no steering wheel or pedals, I don't see how the passenger could be liable. In theory, you should be able to get in, have a kip, and wake at your destination regardless of the length of trip. There's obviously a **** ton of legalities to be ironed out. I think it would be wise to avoid the first few versions and let the 'pioneers' work out the pitfalls.
I've only been on TT a couple of times because it's always been full of people reading books and sat alone! Very odd! Unless I've been unlucky?
Can I leave this with you then for now as my tea is on the table. If you could get back to me sometime next week and we could maybe go out for a drive in the new vehicle. Cheers.
Its cos you smell of moldy potatoes and other veg. Personally, having worked in a fruit and veg shop when I was 10ish, it brings back happy memories for me, but it's not for everyone. Maybe try liberally splashing some old spice on. They'll be queuing up to sit next to you.
Ghostly that track! Watched the last panthers! So this is strongly connected to what was a great series! Well done David Bowie. Rip
Watching School swap Korea Style... They presented a Welsh GCSE test to the Korean students. They had an hour to finish it. It took them 15 minutes and the teacher said the paper was primary school standard for Korean students... a huge proportion of Welsh students failed it!!!! The Korean kids are at school at 7.30 and are studying 14 hours a day...
We should all book on the same TT coach for at least one away game a season, or if there are enough of us that want to do it book an independent coach, it could be our very own not606 AGM, and it might stop some of the unnecessary sniping of each other on here.
No there are many on here that I'd enjoy an away day with Ben, at the end of the day we all want what's best for City.
