It's yet more fake news reported by the Dail Mail. It's in fact a cartoon forgery by the wandering French painter J-L David, who threw it together when he was living in Hackney.
I think it's rather clever, dropping the "s" down achieves what it was supposed to do and draws your eye to it.

I just had a bit of a Google of David Hockneys paintings. Now I'm not saying he's not a great artist, he must be seeing what his work goes for, but he's not much cop at painting is he. Anyone know what makes it so special?
