Yes, but these votes are somewhat skewed by the age of the people reading those publications, not to mention not that many vote as the readership isn’t that great. They vary from time to time greatly. Look at the top selling acts and compare their sales. In 1967 Otis Redding voted best vocalist in NME, with which I agreed, but had only sold a handful of records in this country and the overwhelming majority, especially over the age of 25, of people had no idea who he was. The biggest selling UK vocalist of the 1980s was Shakin’ Stevens. Nuff said...
What the hell are you trying to say about Shakin' Stevens? I know sometimes we take the piss on here, but you're getting close to crossing the ****ing line.
I saw Russ Abbot walking along the seafront at Blackpool a few years ago. He smiled and nodded at me. Maybe I was the only one who knew who he was?
Just watching the chase celebrity edition Bernard Cribbins is 90 Bloody hell Great bloke and what a career .
Recorded with George Martin before the Beatles. Noel Coward chose The Hole In The Ground as one of his records on Desert Island Discs. That record and Right Said Fred are still funny after all these years.
