He's still an ugly bugger. I was at the Wembley ticket office picking up my Cup Final tickets in 2014 when I happened to look round and Peter Beardsley was in the queue behind me. So I said hello as one would and asked him if he was looking forward to the match. He said he was and he was there to support Steve Bruce as they played together in the same youth team back in the day. True story that.
Wonderful footballer though, I went to a game at St James Park one Saturday December 86 when Newcastle they played Forest, he was fantastic that day, as was one of my favourite defenders Des Walker. Finished 3-2 to Newcastle.
Now that is a coincidence, I just went on the off chance, my daughter was in the national gymnastics squad, and there as a Northern training weekend at Whitburn, so I took the chance of going and watching the game.
To continue and add to the wealth of Peter Beardsley antidotes; I had a meeting with Peter a few years ago in his capacity as the corporate face of Newcastle United. We chatted inanely, he expressed concern for the well-being of Gazza, then he offered me his business card. I accepted it whilst thinking ' Don't really need this Pete, mate. I know who you are and I'm not likely to forget what you look like.' On another occasion he nearly ran over my dog as he pulled out the Benton training ground. Not his fault by the way. My dog has limited to no road sense.
Well atleast you weren't with us when some idiot after a full days drinking decided he'll drive the mini bus to take us home and got it stuck across a grass verge...
I can't remember if it was this weekend or another one, as we went up to Whitburn every 12 weeks, but we always slept in the gym on the Saturday night, and I woke to find my car with its windows smashed and the radio ripped out. It was a 2 week old Vauxhall Carlton, so I was right pissed off.
He's a YouTube blogger called Royal Jordanian, he has several nice bikes, all with exotic sounding exhaust systems.
