He was only thwarted in his Boulevard ideas by the fact the world famous Boulevard Of Dreams wasn’t fit enough to host even Conference level games.
Though indirectly we have him to thank for AP as he brought things to a head which might have festered on for years. Another businessman, like the Allams, who didn’t do enough checking before getting involved with
City. He was led up the garden path by Tim Wilby.
I know this will rumble on until well after they have gone but no one can argue they aren't a pair of ****s. If some choose to not give them their hard (or not so hard) earned cash who has the right to argue them down. And in the end it really doesn't matter. They have ****ed up 'their' business whilst claiming they know what they are doing. ****ers.
I remember Lloyd wanting to bring Wimbledon to Hull and make them The Hull Don's or something. We'd have loved that wouldn't we.
Another example of owners getting involved in a sport they know nothing about.
They might think they know how to run a business and football is a business, but if you don't understand the football fan, you'd better employ people who do.

Don't think the Hull FC name change was actually him - it happened at least a year before he took over.
Though I do recall the Boulevard idea and the merger of the two clubs.
It weakens the argument against them if people blame every small petty issue on them as if the Allams are plotting in the family kitchen each night "I know, here's a good wheeze, let's try and implement a total NO MOBILE PHONES at the KCOM sketch, that should **** them up. We'll employ an Allam Marine lackey with binocs in the UW. They don't like it up em!"
The Allams have made some horrendous mistakes in their tenure and ruined things for themselves and us.
Just wish people would stop attributing the missing crowds entirely to people making ethical choices rather than being fickle ****s who can no longer see Wazza and Stevie G.
It's a mixture of both.
Glad to be out of the North, never wanted to be in there in the first place.
As for walking round the long way, blame the silly ****s who specified the stadium layout and Humbs OB.
You do seem to put your fingers in your ears and go la la la when people mention the fact the good crowds we got were well before any of us had even heard of the Allams.
Even going back to Boothferry Park, when there was a threat of our club folding, the crowds returned. That had nothing to do with Stevie ****ing G, did it.
It was about saying "We can't let this club fold". That for me was what alerted Adam Pearson to the potential this club had and the rest is history.
Of course you will get Premier League fans swelling the gate, that happens at every club. But it can't possibly explain what happened before, as we rose majestically up the leagues, now can it.

So I got collared by a few.....how did they get on mate.....great they won....get in.....
I went to the bar to get a round in, and there was one bloke who asked how many was there...I said around 10,000 as a guess.....
He then got into a tirade about everything the Allams had done for the club and the city, and how the people of hull didn't deserve their money.......
I found it very difficult but I bit my lip, there are some blinkered tools about

A point made by some of us when the KC opened. A poster on here who was invited by
AP for a preview look around because of the help he had given the club when others weren't Interested in the club told me that the next day there would be problems because of the layout. It was fine for the utopian vision of fans mingling and swapping ends as per rugby league (though that wouldn’t be possible in the unlikely event of a full house, but rugby fans were consulted far more than City ones about the stadium ) but it was obvious it would lead to problems in the real world with football clubs. Unlike, for example, Reading, where they could simply alter things depending on away numbers and just have an aisle way as segregation that was not possible at the KC as the toilets and catering didn’t match up to enable this. Consequently we had to have more empty seats than necessary in the early days.
AP’s idea was to have the South Stand as the Kop. Unfortunately the fans in the Kempton decided they wanted to be down the side again, However the Kempton only held 1,800 and they didn't all get sat together and were mingled amongst people in a 6,000 Stand who would rather have been in the West Stand and those who used to be in South Stand seats and prefer to watch their football remaining sedentary whilst spectating which diluted the atmosphere and led to arguments and stewards throwing their weight about.
If the Koop had been the South Stand there would have been no needs for gates as the away fans would have been at the other end of the ground and even Humbs OB would have been able to control things.
There's also the changes in football in general that's helping people find other things to do with their time and money.
On the subject of fluctuating gates, there's always going to be a first game, the clever trick is turning that into regular attendance.
There are quite a few that went to the odd game in their youth, and then nothing for decades until it became fashionable, although some do try to gloss over the time between first game and regular attendance.
And others found other things to do until late in life before becoming super fans, telling others who were there all along that they are wrong in their views.
First or second time ?
Back in 81/82 no home attendance made 5 figures not even SUFC. This was height of bandwagon mania era for RL of course.
Broke 5 figure barrier next season Scunny and PVFC promotion rivals (we went up)
96/97 in bottom tier again....no 5 figure gate. Same again next season. And again. And again 99/2000.
And I know this is gonna sound kind of crazy....we were **** all those seasons in the nineties...bottom half or even quarter of the league....who'da thunk it? What a coincidence.
In 2000/2001 the visiting hordes of Scunthorpe and Cheaterfield bumped us over the 5 figure threshold twice that season.
in 2002/2003 we moved to the KC halfway through the season.
Before we did, we got 4 five figure gates and 7 less than 10k. After the move, they were all well above 10K.
Make of that what you will.
Do you remember "City's last ever game against Cardiff 98" attendance 8,800 l think, l expected at a least a sell out.
The owners have burnt too many bridges so until they go we wont have crowds above 10,000 going forward
