I'm a Red Dwarf fan. Love it. One of the best TV shows of all time. Makes me laugh and I love the sci-fi element too of course. From the age of 10 I loved it. T'is a brill comedy. Nothing more, nothing less.
On the series 4 DVD is a documentary, Built to Last, it referred to the lack of racism in Red Dwarf.
Craig Charles saying "It's a top rated show, where two of the main cast are...of colour...and it's never mentioned in the show."
Looking online I saw posts which equated to Red Dwarf fans patting each other on the back because their show had two black guys and two white guys as the four main players, and race never came into it.
This really pissed me off. I'd never even thought of race when it came to Red Dwarf. It's a bloody funny show that I love and that's all. But the 'positive' brigade made me think about race and I hated / hate that.
I guess my point is that racism will always be there whilst someone brings it up.
Those photos in the article prove nothing. Just hacks seeing something they want to. To make a story.
I never think about racism, but for some reason it seems to invade my life by those who are against it. Not for me thanks. Bugger off.
'In the future, aboard Red Dwarf, there's no racism. Brill, let's discuss that....'
