As per Leibherr's suggestion a thread that could achieve 100% agreement right from the get go! Yeh right! First up. Goalkeepers Cech or Schmeichel? Straight fight between these 2 or are any others worth considering?
not actually any super outstanding RB in the PL ever. Will give it to G Nev for his reliability and consistency.
Ignoring the PL bit for a minute. Phil Neal - outrageously good RB. Think he played like 400 consecutive games for Liverpool. Also scored a **** load of goals as he was on pen duty. Rob Jones was also excellent.
Thats my thinking too. No RB has been like "Woah that guy is awesome", but Neville was a consummate professional, who performed week in and week out, and gave Ronaldo and Beckham before him, license to attack on that right wing.
The trouble is RB as a position has changed so much, years back what kids wanted to grow up and be a RB? These days it's an awesome position. G. Nev gets my vote but purely due to his consistency..
dunno their have been some class full backs over the years. Dani Alves, Lilian Thuram, Cafu, Zanetti, Phillip Lahm. Do Sergio Ramos and Puyol count as they did quite a few years there?
As a kid, everyone wanted to be an attacker, either a striker, a CM or an attacking winger. In the playground the kids were always Lineker, or Ian Rush, or Beardsley or Gascoigne. Defensive midfielders werent even a thing then, and just **** defenders........ These days I feel every position gets the respect it deserves, at least far more so than back in the day.
