I don’t know them personally so I can’t really comment.
But in general I’d find it very surprising if someone genuinely wasn’t aware that word was viewed as racist in the U.K.
But you do know Kanye West’s name and more about what he’s said.

Sure, why not? We call the British Brits, Americans Yanks, etc. it's just another abbreviation. There's zero association with racism with the term so no one over here even thinks of it as an issue.
OP is different as it's all about the context, but Australia isn't particularly relevant.
It would be an issue to them, calling Moeed Ali a Paki, would be exactly the same as calling Jofra Archer a ******.
Both words are equally offensive here, they're just applied to different races (though the term Paki is generally used as a term of abuse thrown at any Asians, rather than people who are actually Pakistani).
Out of interest, do you call Aborigines Abos?

You said 'it's just another abbreviation', which I was why I asked if you called Aborigines Abos, because it's the Australian version of the same thing (at least I think it is, as I think I've proved on this thread, I'm not that well up on Australian terminology).
I'm not sure how else I can say "The term has no racist connotations in Australia which is why it is still used" when there is very clearly a racist connotation with that slang term for the indigenous population. If you're still unsure what the difference is I can't help you.
Normally, when people find out that a term is very offensive in another country, they stop using it out of respect for those who could be offended by it.
I wouldn't refer to Aboriginal Australians as Abos, even if it is 'just another abbreviation' that means nothing in England.

Your original point which I corrected was that it's a term not still used in Australia when it is. The end. If you think we're horribly racist for using it (having just posted, and continue to post, two pretty clearly racist words when you could asterix them without any loss of understanding at what you're referring to) then that's your prerogative.

If you use it knowing it’s racist and as a put down, then you’re racist. Racism is bred from hatred, not from mistakes. So to deliberately use racist terms to describe people knowing it will cause harm is a significant indicator of a racist individual.
What lady H did was racist. I don’t think she meant to be, she wasn’t going on the attack, but it was undoubtedly racist. Hence why she resigned and her former employers put out an apology.

The words do not become more or less racist when you hide the letters and I'm not even clear on which two of the three racist terms I posted should have asterixis and which one shouldn't. Though I'm sure this is boring the arse off everyone else, so there's no need to respond.
