He did, and he's been solid, but he doesn't produce much. This is not a Seb dig, he's a decent and valuable player, I just see Gomez come on every game and start picking passes for fun, with a bit of understanding with his team mates, gained via playing time, I could see him getting many assists and key passes. Seb doesn't.
He needs a few games and build up his speed. Johnson was man of the match, followed by Catts. The ref was all Spurs in the 2nd half as well.
I agree totally about Gomez mate, that's my point. Rodwell is the problem at the moment, he's a passenger. He can get fit in training, reserve games, cup games and with 25-30 mins as a sub. He doesn't warrant a start just to get him sharp. I agree you can get sharp by playing but Gus can manage this without giving us someone to carry in this very difficult league. By the way, I have no doubt he will go on to be a great player for us, hopefully by around Christmas and beyond.
Aye, probably valid to an extent, but he put some graft in yesterday Rodwell, he really did. We were chasing shadows for long periods but Rodwell chased as hard as anyone, he should be getting better every week really.
Its great to have these options and its going to take time to sort the new boys out and create a pattern of play to suit the current squad . I am sure Gus will do this but as some of our rivals have started quite well I fear we might be looking over our shoulders anxiously until around Xmas time.
Thought he looked very good considering it was his 1st game in the premier league against a top side. Much better than Socco ever did. Me, I'd drop Rodwell for Giacc or Gomez. I think Rodwell will come good, but he should be used as a sub until he gets up to match speed - he looked off the pace and lost imo. Larsson offered much more.
Thanks lads for your input, omg we ain't won a game yet but reading that lot I am enthused lol. Onwards and upwards eh, burnley away looking a biggy already.
I thought the lad did well for his first game, like the stats say he was the only player who kept the ball, bit lightweight but he will learn and get better. against the lesser teams I think both him and the other attacking players we have will come good.
We have been behind in all four league games this season and battled back in three of them to get a point, that's a plus in my eyes. Roll on Burnley
Agree totally MO - we do need to stop this from happening - we played against a side who, IMO, will be fighting for top 4 this season (I think Liverpool will end up dropping out and it'll be Spurs, City, Chelsea and Arsenal in the top 4 personally). We picked their pocket for the point but could easily have stolen the house and car as well if Buckley had taken his opportunity (wonder what would've happened had he left it to Wickham!?) Burnley is a biggie now and we need to get a win on the board.
