And it will stop short the the inevatable "Gerrard in decline?" threads that I can see on the horizon. We all know Gerrard looks more lost when playing deeper, which he is having to do this season, yet his class oozes when he is pushed forward to a more attacking care-free role.

We should move him to CB, we're a bit short there <ok>

Alonso would love to come back to Liverpool. His son supports our team, and in his in-depth interview he hinted he'd like to finish his career here.

I can see this happening myself and I think it's a win win situation. More options, **** loads of experience on the training field and the dressing room, and a player that loves Liverpool. Plus he's such a professional he's got fair few miles left in the tank.....It's a no brainer for me.

I'd love him to come back home - and I think he probably will (at some point) <ok>

The only real question marks would be wages and FSG <ok>

Well Madrid signed the young guy from Sociadad for lots of money in the summer and he is being lined up for Alonso's replacement so maybe they're giving him 1 season to learn from Alonso, bed him into the team before letting Alonso leave in the summer <ok>

If Alonso was in our team vs Swansea and Man Utd (Cream Egg Cup) I reckon we would have won both. Not sure about Southampton as we were just dire in that one.

Just give the ball to him and Coutinho and they wouldn't be able to get it back!

P.s what's with the Cream Egg Cup? Seen people say that a couple of times now but not worked out the link

I've referred to it as that for a while but no idea why its so common. Maybe because the League Cup is always referred to by its sponsor and its worth as much as a egg cup?

Can't see BR fancying this because it would demote his marquee signing last season, one Joe "Epic" Allen, to never start. Henderson can't be dropped, Lucas shouldn't be dropped and Gerrard wont be dropped. That means Alonso would either be benched or rotate with one of Henderson, Lucas or Gerrard. That means £15m Allen would not get a game, especially when we consider we don't have Europa this year.

You mean attacking midfielder Epic Allen?

Alonso Alberto
----Allen

Three A's

BR has shipped three (Sahin, Assaidi & Borini) of his first signings out, I trust him to do the right thing (whatever that is) with Allen too
