Slightly splitting hairs on my comment don't you think? The myth that Hull City will NEVER be promoted to the First Division/Premier League was well and truly shattered by the Phil Brown (don't forget Brian Horton)/Duffen/Bartlett regime. I, and I'm sure many other City fans had that drummed into us from being kids and we probably started to believe it. But that regime couldn't sustain it and we came down again, deep in debt, serious debt I heard. The massive task then was to get us back up, and my point was, this was not a lucky throw of the dice, which was the suggestion, it took some serious financial ambition, not to mention personal risk, and the Allams pulled it off.
I've seen many a good man and a few who were just the opposite attempt to get this club into the top league of English football. Before the Bartlett and Duffen regime, all had failed, most miserably, most getting their fingers severely burnt and the others fleeced us senseless to the brink of extinction. Point is the Allam's managed it, they got us promoted and for that alone I believe, as fans, we should recognise that fact and show a bit or respect. Not everything they did was perfect, far from it, but I'm sick of hearing how 'lucky' Hull City and the Allams were to get us promoted back to the Prem. Luck had nothing to do with it.
