On 9 April 2014, The FA Council decided to reject an application by Hull City to change its playing name to 'Hull Tigers'. Following the majority vote by Council, Hull City commenced arbitration proceedings against The FA challenging the decision to reject the club's application.16 Mar 2015 and laterally failed.

As noted above the Trading name of the club was changed at companies house as numerous times before...

The resonant the Germans ave a good health service, though it has faults, is that it is a mixture of a basic one and a private top up. Same as France. People there also contribute more. Nothing to with the amount of tax better off people pay. It is the way they are run.

The contributions French earners pay towards medical health services is via mandatory social security payments. This is a % of earned income. The higher the income, the higher the payment. It's essentilly a tax. I suspect the German system is funded similarly.

The fact is it was HIS club. We are 'supporters' of the club. If you do not like the owner or the way they run it you have two choices, buy it from him or stop supporting it.

You might not like the second one and the first choice might be beyond most people but the reality is this the risk when you invest yourself into something you do not own and cannot control. There are plenty of Manchester United fans who have given up their hard to come by season passes because they dislike the owners so much, they will likely never get a seat of their own again.

Football fans have recently aqquired this strange belief that the club they choose to support somehow is theirs to control as a business because they put £300 a year into it.

I do not give a frig about Acun, Assam, Pearson or anyone else, I go and watch 90 mins of football, enjoy some time with my family and hope that we see a win for City at the same time as being entertained. I spent too long watching League 2 football home and away to give a ****e about much more than that.

Disagree.There is at least one more choice which is to protest against what it is you don't like. A perfectly valid choice which many chose.

Fair enough, I just don't think slagging off and turning on someone who saved the club you care about is the way to conduct oneself.

People were quick to trust him and thank him when he put up the cash and made the appointments that saw the club play top flight football and in an FA Cup final for the first time ever but should he decide that he wants to try and grow the brand in a way he sees fit suddenly he is an arsehole and doesn't know what he is doing.

The club is a business that belongs to someone at all times. The only way to change that would be for the supporters to raise the funds to buy it and having had first hand experience dealing with AFC Wimbledon and judging by the arguments on here I don't see a fan owned Hull City as a better option either!!!

They also have top ups which bring editional benefits. As the NHS is funded by general taxation on top of NI then the higher the income then the higher the payment here.

You are completely missing the point. There were reasons for the very, very few name changes. Nothing to do with an owner having bought the club and was free to call it what he wanted. Which was what I said.

Yes that’s what he thought but football clubs are more than a business, there is no other business where customers commit to supporting for their whole lives and pass that on to the kids and grandkids.

That’s why the name change was a **** idea, and that’s why thousands of fans decided to support from afar, rather than pay to get in.

Absolutely laughable.You only need to look back to when Acun came on-board and monies were mentioned on here to buy a Flag...

First, you can protest without "slagging off and turning on someone".
Second, it wasn't just about the name change. It was a multitude of daft, morally wrong, maybe even vindictive, decisions, actions, comments and damn right lies.
I love that quote from Bobby Robson. That's why there has to be the 3rd option (not just put up or walk away).

The Nike one isn't really true, Blue Ribbon Sports Inc was the company name, they were just importers and distributors of Onitsuka Tiger products from Japan. The products they then started designing and producing themselves were always branded Nike.

In fact, a lot of them aren't really accurate. BackRub was just a nickname the founders gave the project while setting it up, it was already called Google by the time it launched. Cadabra Inc was again a company name, it's trading name was Amazon and though Pepsi was originally called Brad's Drink, it changed in 1898 and outside of a few shoppers in South Carolina, it's the only name it's ever been known by.

He spat his dummy out and acted like a child when the council wouldn’t give him the stadium, hence the name change debarcle. Probably not no, to be fair. I was trying to summarise and say it is what it is but managed to gratuitously get my own opinion across. Point still stands though, it’s been done to death. No pun intended.

There’s no connection between falling out with the council then spitefully trying a name change- he saw that as a brand he could sell. It’s valid for fir so many reasons for products - but a historic emotion based entity is not a product and he failed to understand that . As many egotistical owners / managers fail to realise is that they can’t always do what they want , their ‘power’ does not always extend that far. As for his desire for kudos etc I am pretty sure a bit of credit for some very impressive and very beneficial facilities on a local basis is a small price to pay . They would not be there if some people didn’t do it . Many big philanthropic projects of the Industrial Age were to guarantee a ready source of obligated able workers based local to the industry - it is only fairly recentlythat many have developed into pretty amazing charitable trusts of social housing . He said stupid things because he was a stubborn old goat - have a listen to your elderly relatives and see if they are any different , people reach an age where they worry less about the consequences of what they say and do - and those younger ones around them mutter ‘ it’s just his/ her age’ It doesn’t excuse them but life has probably soured them somewhat along the way - though on this board some have got to that point a lot earlier I think!!!!
Like the previous owners he got lucky with the first premiership promotion , helped manufacture the second and effed it up or bottled it or used the cash to prop his company up maybe. His health didn’t help as Ehab took over and behaved as an accountant would - to be sucessful.!! LOL
It’s sad on so many levels it went that way and years of anger at them and the vitriol among supporters was a heavy price to pay . For the moment thank god for Acun , we’ll see!

It was the only reason, he didn't pretend otherwise when we met with him to try and talk him out of it, he knew perfectly well that his 'shorter name' nonsense held no real merit.
